According to Transfermarkt , Onana's transfer value has decreased from £30.41 million in December 2024 to £27.8 million in mid-March 2025. In the summer of 2023, MU had to spend £43.8 million to sign the Cameroonian goalkeeper from Inter Milan.
British media reports suggest that if Manchester United want to sell Onana this summer, they expect to receive around £26 million. This figure would be just enough to avoid violating Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. The Red Devils would incur a loss if they wanted to replace their goalkeeper before the start of the new season.
Onana's performances have given manager Ruben Amorim a headache, as the goalkeeper position is not a priority for Manchester United at the moment. The Daily Mail reports that the Red Devils are reportedly joining the race to sign goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen as a replacement for Onana. Brighton are demanding a transfer fee of up to £60 million for the Dutch international.
The Daily Mail reports that Onana is likely to be dropped from the Manchester United squad by manager Amorim for the Premier League match against Newcastle on April 13th. Altay Bayindir will replace Onana in goal. The Turkish goalkeeper has recovered from injury and is ready to return to action.
Following the 2-2 draw against Lyon in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals on April 11th, Opta pointed out that Onana is the Premier League goalkeeper with the most errors leading to goals conceded in Europe, with a total of 8 goals.
Currently, MU are 13th in the Premier League and no longer have a chance to compete for a top 5 spot.
