Mr. Tran Quang Lam is Acting Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction.

On the afternoon of May 13, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong chaired the ceremony to award decisions to officials.

Accordingly, at the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs Nguyen Bac Nam announced the decision of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the transfer and appointment of Mr. Tran Quang Lam, Director of the Department of Transport and Public Works, as Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction.

At the same time, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also decided to assign the position of Director of the Department of Construction to Mr. Tran Quang Lam, from May 1 until the Chairman of the City People's Committee issues a decision to appoint the Director of the Department of Construction.

Also at the ceremony, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee decided to appoint Mr. Tran Hoang Quan, Director of the Department of Construction (old) as Deputy Director of the new Department of Construction; 9 Deputy Directors of the Department of Construction and the Department of Transport and Public Works as Deputy Directors of the Department of Construction (new) including: Mr. Pham Minh Man, Huynh Thanh Khiet, Phan Ngoc Phuc, Truong Trung Kien, Phan Van Tuan, Bui Hoa An, Vo Khanh Hung, Dang Phu Thanh and Nguyen Thanh Loi.

Previously, at the 22nd session (April 18), the 10th term Ho Chi Minh City People's Council resolved to establish the Department of Construction on the basis of merging the Department of Construction and the Department of Transport and Public Works.

Mr. Tran Quang Lam, 52 years old, hometown Quang Binh province; qualifications: Master of Engineering, Construction Engineer, Bachelor of Politics, Senior in Political Theory.

Mr. Lam has nearly 30 years of experience working in the transportation industry, including more than 20 years at the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport (later the Department of Public Works and Transport).

He used to work at the Urban Traffic Management Area, Traffic Management Department, Saigon River Tunnel Management Center under the Department of Transport.

In 2014, he became Deputy Director of the Department of Transport. In April 2019, he became Director of the Department of Transport.

On March 1, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City established the Department of Public Works and Transport, and Mr. Tran Quang Lam was awarded the decision by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to become the Director of the Department. On April 15, at the 39th Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Conference, term XI, Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen awarded the decision of the Secretariat on appointing Mr. Tran Quang Lam to join the Ho Chi Minh City Party Executive Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
