On October 15 in Hanoi, Viettel High Tech and Qualcomm will co-organize the Open RAN Connect 2025 International Conference, which is the largest 5G Open RAN event ever held in Vietnam.
In 2024, the event made a splash when Viettel announced the commercialization of Vietnam's 5G equipment. This year, the program continues with the theme "Enabling the Future: Core Technologies for Open RAN at Scale" focusing on core technologies to deploy Open RAN on a global scale.
At the Open RAN Connect 2025 International Conference , representatives of organizations, telecommunications enterprises, and domestic and foreign researchers will discuss the roadmap for expanding the commercialization of Open RAN, towards an efficient and sustainable digital infrastructure. Speakers come from the Global Mobile Association (GSMA), the Open RAN International Association (ORAN Alliance); the Ministry of Science and Technology ; Qualcomm Group, Viettel High Tech, Viettel Networks, Gartner, etc.
The conference will have notable topics, including: GSMA shares about the development potential and impact of Open RAN technology on the global telecommunications industry. O-RAN Alliance updates the current development status of O-RAN and orientation for the upcoming 5G-6G network era. Qualcomm presents the importance of specialized processing chips (ASIC) in expanding the Open RAN platform.
Gartner published a 5G RAN market analysis report, in which it specially recognized a Vietnamese enterprise for the first time in the report "Gartner Magic Quadrant 2025 for CSP 5G RAN Infrastructure Solutions", an important reference document for network operators when choosing equipment suppliers.
At the event, Viettel representatives will also share their experiences in large-scale implementation in Vietnam, contributing to affirming Vietnam's position on the world telecommunications map.
In May 2025, Viettel and Qualcomm signed a strategic cooperation agreement, aiming to make Vietnam a major center of technology research and development in the world.
Open RAN Connect 2025 affirms that Vietnam has become one of the new centers of the global Open RAN movement. This is not only a technology forum, but also demonstrates the pioneering ability of a Vietnamese enterprise in working with international partners to shape the future telecommunications infrastructure.
Also at the Conference, representatives of several global market research companies will announce a number of international reports and awards honoring Vietnamese telecommunications equipment.
This is a big step forward for Vietnam as for the first time a Made in Vietnam technology product has received recognition from many prestigious market research units in the world. This recognition continues to affirm Vietnam's technological capacity to reach out to the world, while also marking the achievement of strategic cooperation between Viettel and Qualcomm from 2022.
