OpenAI’s new feature allows users to set up timed tasks, with reminders, such as sales tracking, weekly newsletters, or daily weather updates. This is one of OpenAI’s efforts to expand the use of AI technology in users’ daily tasks.

The launch of ChatGPT in late 2022 has prompted Amazon to upgrade its Alexa virtual assistant service, which is more than 10 years old, to compete with generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) chatbots. Last December, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said the new version of Alexa would be able to perform user assistance tasks without requiring user commands, and was expected to launch in the “coming months.”

Meanwhile, Apple is not out of the game by integrating “Apple Intelligence” artificial intelligence technology into Siri. This technology leverages the power of ChatGPT and allows Siri to query OpenAI’s service, but only with the user’s consent. This is part of a cooperation strategy between Apple and a Microsoft-backed startup.

OpenAI says it will begin rolling out a beta of "Tasks" to Plus, Team, and Pro users globally in the coming days, starting with the web platform.

AI replaces jobs in finance and banking

In addition, a report from Bloomberg Intelligence shows that in the next 3-5 years, the global financial banking industry could cut up to 200,000 jobs as AI technology increasingly replaces jobs currently performed by humans.

Logistics, middlemen and operations departments are most at risk of being replaced, according to Tomasz Noetzel, senior analyst at Bloomberg.

The customer service sector is no exception as chatbots can completely replace customer care functions, while tasks such as customer identity verification (KYC) can also be replaced.

“Any job that is repetitive in nature is at risk of being replaced. However, AI will not eliminate these jobs completely, but instead will lead to a transformation of human resources,” said Mr. Noetzel.

Superintelligence models must generate at least $100 billion in profit OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently shared in a personal blog post that his company is shifting its focus to “superintelligence” artificial intelligence models - AGI.
