Recently, public attention has been focused on a product called Tensor Robocar, a level 4 self-driving car developed by Tensor (a company based in San Jose, USA). The product is considered " the world's first self-driving electric car that can be owned by individuals".

Last month, Tensor issued a press release announcing Robocar as a collaboration with VinFast . Appearing “in the flesh” at GITEX Global 2025, the largest technology event in the Middle East, taking place from October 13-17 in Dubai, the VinFast and Tensor car continued to create excitement among the local media.

“What has caught the tech world’s attention is not just the futuristic design and autonomous capabilities of RoboCar, but also the story behind its production. Robocar is known to be produced by VinFast, a fast-growing global electric car company from Vietnam,” wrote the Daily Guardian. According to Car Book Magazine, the news of this collaboration has “caused a strong wave of interest in the industry.”

According to UAE media, this is a remarkable milestone when Tensor's autonomous technology - which is developed based on advanced artificial intelligence (AI) platform - combines with VinFast's large-scale production capacity. Quoting industry experts, UAE press assessed that this cooperation "highlights VinFast's growing presence globally, as well as its advanced production capacity".

According to a previous announcement from Tensor, the Robocar production line is located at the VinFast complex in Hai Phong . The factory is highly regarded for its level of automation and sustainable production processes. As one of the most modern electric vehicle manufacturing facilities in Southeast Asia, it would be “a suitable and understandable choice for Tensor’s ambitious project,” Pan Time Arabia magazine commented.

The Daily Guardian also said that VinFast's participation in the Robocar project is "a new step in the company's journey from a pioneering car company in Vietnam to an active global partner in the field of self-driving cars".

More broadly, VinFast’s participation in the Robocar project also reflects the trend of Vietnam’s increasingly elevated position in high-tech manufacturing and sustainable innovation.

Robocar is a personal electric vehicle that meets level 4 autonomous driving standards and can operate completely without a driver in certain areas and conditions. In particular, this is the world's first self-driving electric vehicle aimed at individual consumers, not serving the automatic taxi model, so anyone can own one.

The car integrates more than 100 sensors, can “learn” from the driver, operate itself, maintain itself, and ensure privacy by processing data directly in the car instead of through the cloud.

Tensor describes it as the world's first self-driving electric car equipped with a large language model (LLM), which helps users interact naturally as with a real smart assistant.

Final technical details about Robocar are currently unknown. However, the first demonstrations have shown an impressive combination of AI-powered perception, adaptive driving algorithms, and user-centric design. Deliveries are expected to begin in the second half of 2026.
