QNgTV- The Border Guard of Quang Ngai province is temporarily detaining two fishing vessels to investigate, verify and handle a series of violations in the fisheries sector. These two fishing vessels are part of a group of fishing vessels that have not returned to their localities for many years, causing difficulties for the authorities' work to combat IUU fishing.

Two days ago, the patrol team of Duc Minh Border Guard Station and Border Guard Squadron 2 discovered two fishing boats operating in pairs about 4 nautical miles off the coast of Mo Cay commune, violating regulations on fishing areas. The patrol team made a record and asked the captain to move the boat to Tinh Ky fishing port.

Upon inspection, both vessels were not equipped with voyage monitoring equipment. Their technical safety certificates and fishing licenses were expired, there was no crew register, no crew insurance, and no adequate crew safety arrangements. The captain did not bring the fishing vessel registration certificate and voyage logbook. The two vessel owners also failed to comply with inspections and controls by competent authorities.

For over 10 years, 02 ships have not returned to the locality, causing difficulties in management and prevention of IUU fishing.
