Distributing more than 16,332 liters of disinfectant chemicals to implement the "Month of general cleaning, disinfection, and environmental decontamination to prevent and control livestock and poultry diseases"

According to Plan No. 185/KH-UBND, dated August 30, 2024 of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, "Month of general cleaning, disinfection, and environmental decontamination to prevent and control livestock and poultry diseases" in the province, phase 2, 2024, will take place from September to October 2024. Along with that, at this time, due to the impact of rain and storms, the livestock environment is affected, potentially causing the risk of transmitting some dangerous pathogens that cause diseases to livestock and poultry, especially rabies, African swine fever, lumpy skin disease, avian influenza, foot-and-mouth disease, etc.

To prevent livestock and poultry diseases, the Thanh Hoa Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has allocated and distributed 16,332 liters of disinfectant chemicals, 2,790 masks, 2,790 pairs of rubber gloves, 2,790 sets of protective clothing and 2,790 pairs of high-top rubber boots to localities to conduct cleaning, disinfection and environmental decontamination.

Accordingly, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has instructed localities to implement sanitation, disinfection, and detoxification at markets for trading, slaughtering, gathering, collecting live livestock, poultry and animal products, livestock and poultry farms, and border areas at least once a week.

At the same time, disinfect vehicles transporting animals and smuggled animal products that are seized. Clean and disinfect animal confinement areas immediately after each destruction; feces and waste must be buried or burned.

Along with that, localities need to allocate chemicals, guide livestock farmers to organize general cleaning of the environment, village roads and alleys; organize teams to carry out general cleaning, spray disinfectants for household livestock areas, grazing grounds, markets selling live animals and fresh animal products, places where live animals and animal products are collected for trading, business, areas for burying and destroying diseased animals, animal products carrying pathogens, areas for collecting and treating animal waste, areas at high risk of epidemics... once a week; spraying disinfection is carried out after mechanical cleaning such as: sweeping, scrubbing, washing.
