An article posted by podcast host Mario Nawfal on X on April 3, about Starlink's satellite Internet deployment plan in Vietnam, was reposted by Elon Musk on the morning of April 4 on his account.

Nawfal cited information from Reuters about Elon Musk's SpaceX corporation will operate in Vietnam with the Starlink satellite internet service. According to Reuters , SpaceX plans to build 10-15 ground stations across Vietnam, with the first station in Da Nang in May or June.

Previously, according to Decision 659 dated March 23 of the Prime Minister , SpaceX was allowed to conduct a controlled pilot of its telecommunications services for a period of 5 years. The maximum number of subscribers that this corporation is allowed to pilot is 600,000, including the total number of subscribers of telecommunications enterprises established in Vietnam and enterprises reselling their services.

Nawfal's post stated that this was a victory for SpaceX in being granted a license to test its service in Vietnam for a long time. Elon Musk reposted Nawfal's post but did not comment further.

With 219 million followers, Elon Musk is the most influential person on the platform. The billionaire founder of SpaceX regularly reposts other people’s posts on his personal page. Sometimes he just reposts, but sometimes he replies with his own opinion.

According to Reuters , Starlink's investment in the ground station in Vietnam will be around 3 million USD . In September 2024, during General Secretary To Lam 's visit to the US, SpaceX Senior Vice President Tim Hughes pledged to invest 1.5 billion USD in Vietnam.

Starlink currently operates in more than 100 countries and territories, but not all of them have ground stations. Starlink Installation Pros, a company that provides installation services but is not directly involved with Starlink, said it has about 150 ground stations globally, with nearly half of them in the United States.

If it goes as planned, the plan will make Vietnam one of the places with the largest Starlink network.
