In a televised speech, Commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Hossein Salami condemned US President Trump's threats and vowed to respond firmly to any attack.

"Iran will not wage war, but if anyone threatens, it will receive an appropriate, decisive and decisive response," said Hossein Salami.

Calling the Houthis "representatives of the Yemeni people", Hossein Salami stressed that the group "makes strategic and operational decisions" independently.

Earlier the same day, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei issued a statement "strongly condemning the brutal US airstrikes", calling it a "serious violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter".

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on social network X that Washington "has no right" to impose Tehran's foreign policy.

"The US government has no authority or standing to dictate Iran's foreign policy," the Iranian foreign minister wrote, calling on the US to stop "killing the people of Yemen."

Mr Araghchi asserted that the era when Washington could dictate Tehran's foreign policy ended in 1979, when the Islamic revolution toppled the Western-backed shah.

On the same day, Houthi movement spokesman Mohammed Abdel Salam announced that US airstrikes on Yemeni territory would not prevent the movement from attacking Israeli ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

Posting on social network X, the Houthi representative stated: "The statements of the US President regarding the threat to international maritime activities in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are false and misleading to the global community. The Houthi naval blockade, declared in support of Gaza, only applies to Israeli ships and will remain in effect until humanitarian aid reaches the people of Gaza, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian resistance force (Hamas) and the opposition entity (Israel)."

On the same day, Qatar's Al Araby TV channel quoted a Houthi official as saying that the force was ready to participate in negotiations with the US to achieve peace .

A day earlier, President Donald Trump announced that US forces had carried out airstrikes on Houthi facilities in Yemen’s capital Sanaa to ensure maritime security in the Red Sea. Houthi sources said the airstrikes killed 21 people, including children.
