The ministry of energy andeducation said it was part of a broader plan to restart the sector. Initial estimates suggest that the French nuclear industry, which currently employs 22,000 people, will need 100,000 new workers by 2033. The Normandy and Auvergne Rhone-Alpes regions are in greatest need of skilled workers due to their many nuclear plants, waste dumps and research facilities.
Earlier, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire affirmed that the country's nuclear energy issue is an "absolute red line" and "non-negotiable", in the context of France and Germany still disagreeing on the role of nuclear energy in Europe.
