The scientific workshop "Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac - A lifelong example of dedication to the country and the people" took place over 2 days (December 3 and 4, 2024). Today, Dong Thap Province, the land of lotus flowers rich in cultural and historical traditions, is very pleased to welcome the leaders of Central Departments, scientists, local leaders and distinguished delegates to attend the Scientific Workshop: "Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac - A lifelong example of dedication to the country and people". The workshop is jointly organized by the Central Party Propaganda Department, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee.

This is a practical activity to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the death of Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac (November 27, 1929 - November 27, 2024) - a typical intellectual who devoted his whole life to the country and the people, the father of the great President Ho Chi Minh. This is also an opportunity for us to pay tribute and understand more deeply the life and activities of Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac for the patriotic movement in general and the patriotic movement in Dong Thap in particular.

On behalf of the leaders of Dong Thap Province, I would like to send my sincere greetings and wishes for health, happiness and success to the leaders of the Central Committees, Ministries, and Branches, localities, scientists, representatives of the Nguyen Sinh family, and delegates attending the Conference!

Dear comrades.

Dong Thap is a province with a geographical location with many special features of the Mekong Delta: The source of the Tien River, bordering Cambodia with a border of more than 50km; bordering 5/12 provinces of the Mekong Delta (An Giang, Long An, Tien Giang, Vinh Long, Can Tho).

With such a geographical location, Dong Thap was previously considered a “remote” place, little known. The history of exploration and development of Dong Thap is closely linked to the process of reclaiming land, conquering nature, creating new values; a place where people and nature know how to rely on each other, taking advantage of each other’s strengths to not only survive but also develop, opening up a fertile land with great potential.

Although the natural conditions are not very favorable, throughout its history of more than 300 years, Dong Thap has been known as a land of "Spiritual land and talented people", with generous and loyal people, a tradition of patriotism, solidarity, and steadfastness in fighting against foreign invaders, and is the "Cradle of the patriotic movement", typically the gathering, leading of the insurgent army, and the organization of the uprising of Commander Vo Duy Duong, Commander Nguyen Tan Kieu, Commander Nguyen Van Linh, etc., which made the French invaders terrified. Dong Thap is one of the stops of revolutionary predecessors and in particular, Hoa An village, Cao Lanh was chosen by Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac - the father of President Ho Chi Minh as the place to live, teach, prescribe medicine, and propagate patriotism to the people in the last years of his life.

Mr. Pho Bang Nguyen Sinh Sac was born in 1862, in Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An province. During his journey to the southern land of the Fatherland, he visited many places in the South such as Saigon, Thu Dau Mot, An Giang, My Tho, Ben Tre; and had time to go to Phnom Penh (Cambodia) to meet and discuss with patriotic scholars and intellectuals about the country's affairs, sometimes teaching Chinese characters or taking pulses, prescribing medicine to cure people's illnesses. In 1927, he returned to Cao Lanh and lived here until the end of his life, mobilizing young people to participate in the patriotic movement. With the image of a Confucian scholar with profound knowledge, a dedicated doctor, a simple, honest life and a gentle, friendly personality, Mr. Pho Bang Nguyen Sinh Sac was very loved and respected by the people of Hoa An village, Cao Lanh.

The life of Mr. Pho Bang Nguyen Sinh Sac is a shining example of perseverance, studiousness, patriotism, and love for the people. During the years of living and working in the land of Cao Lanh, Dong Thap, full of humanity, he made the land and people of Dong Thap famous, contributing to spreading the spirit of patriotism and compatriotism among the people, urging the next generations to fight, writing the heroic revolutionary tradition of Dong Thap. The Party Committee and people of Dong Thap also had warm and deep feelings for Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac. After his death, with infinite respect and sorrow, the people of Dong Thap organized a thoughtful funeral for him. During the wars of national liberation and national reunification, the Party Committee and people of Dong Thap resolutely and skillfully protected his grave from the enemy's sabotage plots. After the country was reunified, the North and the South reunited, and his grave was rebuilt to be more spacious.

Today, the Nguyen Sinh Sac relic site has become a cultural destination, a red address to educate the young generation about the tradition of patriotism, the revolutionary ideals of the Party and the nation. It can be said that history has once again extended Cao Lanh - Dong Thap's tradition of patriotism, revolution and cultural values ​​with the presence of the Vice President during his time with the people in the region and during the 95 years that the people of Dong Thap - Cao Lanh - Hoa An, on behalf of the people of the Mekong Delta and the people of the whole country, have preserved, protected and cared for his grave.

In memory of and gratitude for the life, career and affection of Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac for the land and people of Dong Thap, studying and following his example of patriotism and love for the people, the Party Committee and people of Dong Thap are making efforts to successfully complete the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party and the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress, aiming to develop the province's socio-economy rapidly and sustainably; constantly improve the quality of life of the people; build a culture and people of Dong Thap that are affectionate, dynamic and creative; and firmly ensure national defense and security.

Dong Thap, once a "remote" locality, is now changing day by day, striving to rise up, affirming many positive values ​​in the Mekong Delta and the whole country.

From a locality with many difficulties, it has now boldly changed its agricultural production mindset to an agricultural economy, transforming itself with many effective models and methods in agricultural restructuring, promoting the spirit of diligence, self-reliance, and cooperation of each citizen, aiming to form professional farmers. From a little-known locality, it has now left its mark in the hearts of friends near and far with the image of the land of pink lotus, small lotus, red-crowned cranes, guild halls, smart villages, festivals of lotus, mango, ornamental flowers, and tra fish industries, ranking in the top group of provincial competitiveness index; friendly government, ... with the spirit of "Pure as the soul of lotus", nurturing and cultivating an aspiration for pink lotus to rise strongly from difficulties, affirming its value, contributing and dedicating to life and the country.

Those positive values ​​are the result of the process of inheriting and absorbing profound values ​​from the life and career of Mr. Pho Bang Nguyen Sinh Sac, especially the ideology of serving the country, respecting the people, cherishing the people, and serving the people.

Dear delegates!

The workshop “Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac - A lifelong example of dedication to the country and the people” was held in the context that the entire Party, people and army are striving to successfully complete the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, actively preparing for Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party. The workshop is a practical activity for us to express our gratitude for the life of Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac for his dedication to the country and the people, especially his great influence on the formation of the personality and revolutionary aspirations of the great President Ho Chi Minh, on the land and people of Dong Thap and the affection of the Party Committee and people of Dong Thap for him.

This is also an important activity contributing to the training and education of the revolutionary traditions and ideals of the Party and the nation for generations of cadres, party members and people of Dong Thap province, especially the young generation. The findings, summaries and comments from the presentations at the Workshop will supplement many documents and draw valuable conclusions about the life and career of Mr. Pho Bang, creating an important foundation for Dong Thap to promote learning and following the lifelong example of Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac for the country and people, to further strengthen the will, belief, pride and determination, and perseverance to continue the glorious revolutionary cause that the Party, President Ho Chi Minh and cadres, party members and people of the previous generation laid the foundation and passed on, well preparing the conditions, making an important contribution to bringing the country into the "New Development Era - the era of national growth", realizing the aspiration to develop a rich, powerful, prosperous, civilized and happy Vietnam.

Once again, on behalf of the leaders of Dong Thap province, I would like to sincerely thank the Central Propaganda Department and the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics for coordinating with the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee to organize this special and meaningful workshop.

We would like to sincerely thank the attention and affection of scientists, researchers, and delegates expressed through more than 116 enthusiastic, scientifically and practically valuable presentations sent to the Workshop, as well as the participation, presentations, and lively, quality discussions at the 3 discussion centers yesterday afternoon, December 3, 2024. These initial results give us strong confidence in the success of the Workshop plenary session this morning.
