The work
The work "Sea of human heart".

"The Sea of the Human Heart" takes readers on a journey of deep emotions about Truong Sa - a place of strong winds and waves but full of humanity and passionate patriotism. Engineer-photographer Tran Thanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Sea and Islands Association, has made 12 working trips to Truong Sa. He has the heart and passion of a scientist and the eyes of a photographer.

Tran Thanh is deeply involved in key projects that are humane and urgent for the lives of the people and soldiers of Truong Sa. He created a machine that filters seawater into fresh water, helping to improve the lives of officers and soldiers on remote islands. Along with that are garbage compactors that solve the harsh environmental problems on small islands surrounded by storms. These initiatives originate from love and a deep understanding of life at the forefront of the storm.

This is a tightly composed, technologically savvy piece.

Each trip to Truong Sa leaves Tran Thanh with "shocks" to his soul, urging him to pick up his camera, recording with his lens and heart the island's looks, smiles, sleep and nostalgia. As co-author of the book series "Where the Waves Begin - Eyes of the Sea", the author has moved readers with the simple, heroic and authentic beauty of Truong Sa.

I am not a writer, nor do I pursue photography professionally, but on my journeys to Truong Sa, I understand that: I need to preserve images with my memories and heart in my own way. - Engineer-photographer Tran Thanh

"The Sea of Human Hearts" has a four-part structure like four chapters in the sacred symphony of the sea and islands of the Fatherland. Part 1 - "Where the dawn begins" opens the book with the light full of tones and spirit of dawn at the top of the waves.

Truong Sa appears in the pristine morning, when the sun first rises on the map of the Fatherland. The photos seem to open wide the door of heaven and earth, allowing readers to feel the breath of the ocean and the immortal vitality of the outpost. That space filled with light not only brings visual beauty, but also symbolizes the resilient spirit, the new beginning of patriotism in the middle of the windy ocean.

The author's sincere and touching confession.

Part 2 - "Going towards the sun" is a journey towards the sun - the journey of young soldiers carrying their youth, ideals and burning hearts to a distant island.

Here, each photo is a magnificent song about the bravery, about the simple but proud life of the marine soldiers. Each look, smile, steady step in the sun and wind… has written the vivid reality of the people who have chosen the sea and islands as the place to entrust their youth.

Many emotional messages are conveyed in the work.

Part 3 - "Flower Seasons on the Waves" is like a gentle harmony of the myriad beauty of the remote island. From the purple square-flowered banyan tree, the sturdy banyan tree, to the salty smiles of the island's guardians, the school of fish frolicking under the pier, the eyes of children on the island... This part brings readers amazement at the beauty of growth, full of vitality of nature and people even in the harshest conditions.

Part 4 - "Reverberation" brings a moment of emotional silence, containing the moods of those who left and those who stayed. It is the thoughtful portraits, the eyes looking towards the mainland, the incense sticks in front of the martyrs' memorial, the mother's trembling hand on the letter her son sacrificed and did not have time to send. Reverberation is like a bell that awakens in the heart of each reader about the silent but sacred sacrifice, about the strong rear and the gratitude that never runs out.

Engineer-photographer Tran Thanh has had 12 business trips to Truong Sa. He has the heart and passion of a scientist and the eyes of a photographer.

Four parts - four emotional beats - like a rising tide in the hearts of readers, "The Sea of Human Hearts" not only opens up a vivid scene of Truong Sa but also highlights the will and aspirations of the Vietnamese people - souls who know how to love, are ready to sacrifice and always keep a strong belief in the Fatherland.

Many readers were moved to say that this is a work that tells a story through images, sounds and emotions with vividness and multi-layers. Each page of the book, in addition to images and captions, also integrates an e-book version and each page integrates a QR code, when scanned, readers will be led to data such as videos , stories, clips... rich in depth, touching the bottom of the heart.

Engineer-photographer Tran Thanh has been to Truong Sa 12 times.

The videos are not staged in the style of a television script, but are raw, honest, unpolished records, thus making them more emotionally charged. There are videos that make viewers cry, such as a quiet conversation with the mother of a Gac Ma martyr. The mother’s voice is small and slow, filled with longing and memories of her son who will never return.

Or the videos recording the moment of farewell at the wharf, the young soldier hugs his mother for a long time, then leaves to board the ship while his mother turns away to hide her tears; the wife takes her children to see her husband off to his mission. There is no dialogue, just the sound of waves and the ship's whistle fading away, but it is that silence that most clearly depicts the silent sacrifice of both the one who leaves and the one who stays.

All data sources were made by the author himself over many years, many trips to Truong Sa, and created memorable films so that anyone who enters will be silent, then look up and see that the sea and islands are not far away.

The author of "The Sea of Human Hearts" already has plans for the next volumes of the book.

In an era where digital technology is changing the way people approach knowledge and emotions, "The Sea of Human Hearts" is one of the typical publications in multimedia storytelling, where photos, poems, videos and technology blend together, creating a vivid reading-watching-feeling experience.

Sharing about the work, engineer-photographer Tran Thanh expressed: "I am not a writer, nor do I pursue photography professionally, but on my journeys to Truong Sa, I understand that: I need to preserve images with my memories and heart in my own way. I have honestly and quietly recorded what I have seen, heard, and been moved by. Those are the images, the strongest voices about patriotism, about sacrifice, about life continuing between generations."

According to a representative of the Information and Communications Publishing House, the book is an effort to spread love for the sea and islands to the public, especially the young generation. It is expected that after "The Sea of the Heart", the next volumes in the series will continue to be released, expanding the perspective on Vietnam's sea and islands in many aspects: from history, culture, to sovereignty protection and sustainable development.
