Dozens of drug and cosmetic manufacturing and trading establishments were discovered to be in violation.

On the morning of May 18, the Drug Administration of Vietnam ( Ministry of Health ) announced that, in order to prevent smuggling and trade fraud, the Drug Administration of Vietnam has established 5 surprise inspection teams to simultaneously review drug and cosmetic production and trading establishments nationwide.

As a result, 38 drug and cosmetic production and trading establishments (18 pharmaceutical establishments, 20 cosmetic establishments) were suddenly inspected, and 17 establishments were found to be in violation.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam has temporarily suspended production at 1 facility because it only meets GMP level 4 principles; requested the destruction of 841 Milgamma N tubes that did not meet sensory quality standards (due to the hospital not preserving them properly according to the conditions stated on the label and returning them to the company) and 2 batches of semi-finished products used to produce health protection foods because they did not meet the preservation conditions; recommended that the competent authority (the Department of Traditional Medicine Administration) review the scope of the GMP certificate of 1 unit because at the time of inspection, the traditional medicine production line had not been operating for a long time and did not have enough equipment as at the time of assessment.

In the cosmetics sector, 9 establishments were found to have committed administrative violations, the main violations being the acts of declaring, advertising, and producing cosmetics with ingredients that do not match the Cosmetic Product Declaration Form.

In particular, two large enterprises were severely punished: VB Group Company ( Ho Chi Minh City) had its right to submit documents revoked, and EBC Dong Nai Company had its "Good Manufacturing Practices for Cosmetics" certificate revoked.

In addition, the nationwide testing system took more than 16,000 samples for testing and found 16 substandard samples. Typically, the Hanoi Testing Center discovered two pharmacies (Duc Anh and An An) trading in counterfeit drugs and drugs of unknown origin such as Nexium 40mg, Theophylline extended-release tablets... Currently, the authorities are continuing to trace the origin of these drugs.

According to Director of the Drug Administration of Vietnam Vu Tuan Cuong, in the field of counterfeit drugs and cosmetics, the Drug Administration of Vietnam coordinates with other forces to resolutely fight and not miss any violations.

According to the Drug Administration of Vietnam, the Ministry of Health has received reports from 20 provincial health departments and has inspected 865 establishments producing, importing, and trading drugs and cosmetics, discovered 48 establishments in violation and imposed a fine of VND534 million. Currently, provincial health departments are continuing to consolidate records to handle violating units according to regulations.

The leader of the Drug Administration Department said that through inspection, it was discovered that goods with unclear origins... in the medical field mainly focused on functional foods, health protection foods, oriental medicine and cosmetics.

No establishments producing, importing, exporting, wholesaling drugs and pharmaceutical ingredients have been found to be producing, importing, exporting, wholesaling counterfeit drugs, drugs of unknown origin, or smuggled drugs. However, some drug retail establishments have been found to be violating regulations on buying and selling legal drugs, with full invoices and documents, and trading in drugs.

In the cosmetics sector, there are still many companies that violate the law, mainly by declaring, advertising, and producing cosmetics with ingredients that do not match the Cosmetic Product Declaration Form.
