With the discovery of Apidima 1, experts have gained valuable information about the migration of modern humans out of Africa, which occurred earlier than previously thought. Photo: vocal.media.

All people with ancestors outside Africa are descendants of a group of Homo sapiens that migrated around 70,000 years ago. However, that was not the first migration of modern humans out of Africa. Photo: connessioniculturali.

Also in Apidima Cave, experts found a second skull fossil and named it Apidima 2. This skull is only 170,000 years old and belongs to a Neanderthal. Photo: South African Tourism/Flickr.

Accordingly, the discovery of Apidima 1 and Apidima 2 helps experts determine that modern humans migrated from Africa to the Eurasian continent many times over a long period of time. However, not all migrations ended in permanent settlement. Photo: researchgate.
