Promoting people's strength in protecting national security

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day and the 20th anniversary of the National Security Protection Festival, An Giang organized many meaningful activities. In Long Xuyen ward, the festival brought a vibrant atmosphere, tightening the relationship between the police force and the people, contributing to maintaining security and order (ANTT) from the grassroots level.

According to Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong, in addition to identifying key political tasks, the National Day for National Security Protection (BVANTQ) is an important task of the Party Committee and local government. He emphasized the consistent viewpoint: Taking the people as the root. The festival is an opportunity to strongly promote the movement among the people - where the people play a direct and core role, with the highest goal of firmly protecting the national security and protecting the legitimate interests of the people.

The 2025 festival was held in Long Xuyen ward, gathering more than 300 delegates from the Central Government, provincial departments and branches, along with many students, policy families and typical households in the area. Mr. Nguyen Huu Thoi (born in 1951), residing in Nguyen Du hamlet, Long Xuyen ward, shared: “I am very proud of the People's Public Security force. You always promote your capacity, contribute to stabilizing the local situation, helping people have a prosperous life, equal before the law. I see that the police force has done a lot of meaningful work. Thanks to the models of maintaining security and order, the crime and social evils in the place where I live have decreased by 70 - 80%. I hope there will be more effective models for people to join hands to ensure local security and order”.

Major General Nguyen Van Han - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Provincial Police Department awarded certificates of merit from the Provincial Police Department to outstanding collectives and individuals at the National Day for National Security Protection in 2025.

As a young athlete who was honored and received a gift at the festival, Le Truong Huyen Tran (born in 2009), residing in Long Xuyen ward, emotionally shared: “I am very happy to participate in the National Day of National Protection. Through this, I understand more clearly the meaning of the festival and the good deeds of the police force as well as the people in maintaining peace for the community. I will promote to my friends and relatives to understand more about the purpose of the festival”.

The movement of the entire people to protect national security in the province has continued to be maintained and developed in recent times, closely linked with other revolutionary movements of the Party, the State and local mass organizations. The direction and organization of the movement has been increasingly improved, promptly resolving urgent and outstanding issues. The province has currently deployed 105 models, with 1,828 security and order protection teams at the grassroots level. Many models have creative and effective methods, and have been commended and replicated by the Department of Building the Movement of the entire people to protect national security ( Ministry of Public Security ), such as: Model "2 An"; "Linking to ensure security and order in Nui Cam tourist area"; "Security cameras"; "Fishermen's teams unite to maintain security and order at sea"; “Information security team”… These models help detect, prevent, and handle incidents early at the grassroots level, while promoting solidarity and community responsibility in the fight against crime and social evils.

The National Day for National Security Protection is held annually in August, not only creating a joyful atmosphere but also contributing to educating the tradition of patriotism, national pride, and people's sense of responsibility in maintaining security and order. Through the festival, the great national unity bloc is strengthened, cultural life is built in residential areas, creating a foundation for socio -economic development and crime prevention and control in each neighborhood, commune, agency, enterprise, and educational institution.

To meet the requirements of the new situation, comrade Nguyen Thanh Phong suggested: “The Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front, local socio-political organizations and the people need to continue to promote propaganda and raise awareness of the role and significance of the festival. Maintaining security in residential areas is to protect the safe and happy life of each family and each person. Each family, each cadre, party member, union member and association member needs to set an example in management, education and encouragement of relatives to comply with the law and actively build a safe and cultural residential area”.
