Promoting glorious tradition, Tien Giang police force is steadfast and courageous in the new era

WELCOME TO THE 78TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TRADITIONAL DAY OF THE VIETNAM PEOPLE'S PUBLIC SECURITY FORCES (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2023) AND THE 18TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE NATIONAL SECURITY PROTECTION DAY (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2023)

The August Revolution was a great success. On August 19, 1945, the first organizations of the Vietnam People's Public Security were established in all three regions: In the North, there were the Secret Service and the Police Department; in the Central, there was the Reconnaissance Department; in the South, there was the National Self-Defense Force. Although the names were different, they all had the same mission of suppressing counter-revolutionaries, maintaining security and order, protecting the Party, protecting the revolutionary government, and protecting the lives and property of the people. Since then, August 19, 1945 has been determined as the Traditional Day of the Vietnam People's Public Security Force.

In that historical stream, on August 25, 1945, the first organization of Tien Giang Police (CATG) was established in My Tho - Go Cong with the name of National Self-Defense Force. This was a part of the People's Armed Forces during the anti-French period, with the task of managing the State on security and order (SOC), preventing and fighting to defeat all plots and activities of the enemy aiming to harm SOC, protecting the government and the peaceful and happy life of the people.

On February 21, 1946, President Ho Chi Minh signed a decree on the establishment of the Vietnam Public Security Service, which was changed to My Tho Public Security Service and Go Cong Public Security Service in the second quarter of 1946. After April 30, 1975, My Tho and Go Cong provinces merged into Tien Giang province. My Tho Public Security Service and Go Cong Public Security Service merged into Tien Giang Public Security Service (now CATG).

Throughout the 78-year history of working, fighting, building forces and growing, the CATG force has always upheld its steadfast and indomitable will, wholeheartedly following the Party, ready to fight and sacrifice for independence and freedom, for a prosperous and happy life for the people, proactively preventing, being resourceful, brave, and actively fighting to defeat all plots and tricks of reactionaries and other criminals, maintaining political security (ANCT) and social order and safety (TTATXH), making an important contribution to the cause of building and protecting national security (ANTQ).

The CATG force deserves the noble awards that the Party and State have bestowed upon it: 1 Ho Chi Minh Medal, 12 Military Exploit Medals, 226 Victory Medals, hundreds of Exploit Medals, Fatherland Protection Medals, Liberation Medals, "For National Security" Medals; 11 units and 9 individuals were honored as Heroes of the Armed Forces; For 9 consecutive years, the CATG was awarded the Government's Emulation Flag for its leading achievements in the "For National Security" emulation movement...

Those noble awards are the pride of generations of CATG, the recognition and appreciation of the Party and State for the sacrifices of the force. During the resistance war against French colonialism, the My Tho - Go Cong Police force always stood side by side with the Armed Forces, sectors, organizations and people to protect the safety of the resistance base, firmly protect the rear area, contributing to the victory of our army and people.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the My Tho - Go Cong Public Security force developed rapidly, continuously organized attacks on the enemy, contributed to creating position and strength on the battlefield, promptly advised the Party Committee to protect and build the resistance base area of the Regional Party Committee, Provincial Party Committee, and safely protected our leaders going to the battlefield to lead the resistance war.

During the days of April 1975, the My Tho - Go Cong Police force participated in serving the southern front of Saigon in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign; actively participated in the attacks, suppressing all resistance of hostile forces. After 1975, the fight of the CATG force entered a new phase: Urgently carrying out the task of consolidating and stabilizing the situation of security and order, social order and safety, working with the people to overcome the consequences of war, increase production and improve life.

Not only performing its duties well, CATG also participated in performing international duties. During the years of participating in performing international duties, more than 100 experienced and steadfast officers went to Cambodia, specifically to Pursat province, to perform international duties in both stages: Destroying the genocidal army to liberate Cambodia and stabilizing the situation. Up to now, the close-knit relationship has been tightened and sustained.

Wherever they are, whatever their responsibilities, the officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security Forces always seriously implement the 6 teachings of Uncle Ho, protect the Party, the State, protect the peaceful and happy life of the people; rely on the people to complete their tasks. In particular, during the period of more than 35 years of renovation, together with the Public Security Forces nationwide, the People's Public Security Forces have made strong development steps, always united, raised their determination, overcome difficulties and challenges, constantly strived to excel, excellently completed their tasks and made outstanding achievements in the fight to defeat all plots and tricks of reactionaries and other criminals, maintaining national security and social order and safety. Recently, after 18 years of organizing the National Day for National Security Protection, many good models have been replicated such as: Self-management portal on national security and order; Light to prevent and combat crimes; building typical communes and wards on national security and order; security cameras...

During the combat work, the CATG force always attaches importance to building close relationships with the people, always relying on the people, listening to the people's opinions. Especially paying deep attention to social activities. From 1992 to now, with voluntary contributions from the Ministry of Public Security, the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tien Giang province and officers and soldiers; at the same time, mobilizing contributions from social forces, the CATG has built nearly 1,000 gratitude houses; comrade houses, charity houses, great solidarity houses... for policy families and poor households. CATG officers and soldiers are present on all difficult and arduous fronts such as preventing and fighting natural disasters and pandemics, together with the people to overcome all hardships and challenges.

To be able to meet the tasks, during the working and fighting process, the Party Committee - Board of Directors of CATG always proposes plans and strategies to implement the task of building forces in a very specific manner, suitable for each revolutionary stage. In particular, it is necessary to improve the quality of propaganda and education on Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thought, the Party's viewpoints and guidelines for cadres and party members, especially the young generation; making all cadres and soldiers firmly grasp and be consistent with the goals, viewpoints and tasks in the cause of innovation, building and defending the Fatherland.

Currently, the People's Public Security force is completing the work of building a regular commune and town police force. During that process, police officers and soldiers are always exemplary and take the lead in deploying and strictly implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, resolutions, directives and conclusions of the Central Executive Committee, especially Resolution 12 dated March 16, 2022 on promoting the building of a truly clean, strong, regular, elite and modern People's Public Security force, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation and Project 06 of the Government on developing applications of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period of 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030.

Every achievement is built on sweat, tears and sacrifice. To inherit, preserve and promote the glorious tradition of the force, to be worthy of the trust of leaders at all levels and the people, the officers and soldiers of the CATG strive even harder, have a steadfast will, do not fear hardships, always bravely face and overcome dangers and difficulties, and excellently complete the tasks entrusted to them by the Party and the people.
