On July 19, the National Children's Hospital reported that doctors from the Orthopedic Department successfully removed a foreign object, a 6cm long piece of rotten wood, from the buttocks, 1cm from the anus of a 6-year-old boy in Hung Yen .
According to the patient's relatives, the boy was playing when he accidentally fell into a bush, causing the piece of wood to penetrate deep into his buttocks. When discovered, the family took the child to the National Children's Hospital to remove the foreign object.

At the time of admission, the boy had a high fever, an abscess in his buttocks, and fluid. X-ray results showed that the foreign object was located very deep near the pelvis, only 1cm from the patient's anus.
After 1 hour of surgery, the doctors removed the foreign object, a 6cm long piece of rotten wood, along with foreign objects such as leaves mixed in.
“Fortunately, when we examined the child's rectum, we found no injuries. Up to now, the patient has recovered well, his health is stable, and he has been discharged from the hospital,” shared Dr. Le Tuan Anh, Deputy Head of the Department of Orthopedics, National Children's Hospital.
