Recently, doctors of the Department of Gastroenterology - Hepatobiliary Surgery, Thanh Hoa General Hospital successfully performed laparoscopic surgery to remove the left lobe of the liver for a patient with liver cancer.

The patient is Mrs. Bui Thi B., 61 years old, in Thanh Truc commune (Thach Thanh), with a history of hepatitis B and cirrhosis. Recently, she had symptoms of pain in the right hypochondrium, so she went to the hospital and was admitted for inpatient treatment at the Department of Gastroenterology - Hepatobiliary Surgery, Thanh Hoa General Hospital. After being examined and doing the necessary tests, the doctors diagnosed the patient with a left liver tumor measuring 2.5x5cm.

According to doctors, the tumor is quite large and needs to be operated on early to prevent the risk of the disease progressing badly. Based on the results of clinical and paraclinical examinations, the patient was consulted to comprehensively assess the condition, severity, and stage of the disease progression, and in coordination with the opinions of leading experts, the doctors decided to choose the method of laparoscopic liver tumor resection to treat the patient.

The laparoscopic surgery to resect the left liver lobe was successfully performed in more than 1 hour, with the professional support of leading experts and a team of doctors from the Department of Gastroenterology - Hepatobiliary Surgery, Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital.

After surgery, the patient's health recovered well, with little pain and a small incision of only 2-3cm. The patient is expected to be discharged tomorrow (June 9) after 7 days of treatment at the hospital.
