Timothy Linh Bui's Vampire Movie Released in Theaters

The Sun Man is the first film Timothy Linh Bui has directed in Vietnam, after 2 films shown in theaters that he produced: Sister Sister 1 (2019, director Kathy Uyen, actors: Thanh Hang, Chi Pu, Lanh Thanh) and The Maid (2016, director Derek Nguyen, actors: Nhung Kate, People's Artist Kim Xuan, Phi Phung, Kien An).

Sun People is a psychological, thriller, action film; revolving around two vampire brothers who have lived in seclusion for the past 400 years. However, their identities were exposed by a human girl... The film invested a large amount of money in filming techniques, set design, makeup, special effects, as well as suitable filming locations to create a fantasy vampire world .

The image of vampires has been exploited a lot in world cinema, but in Vietnamese cinema, so far, only Vampire Master by director Tran Nhan Kien was released in theaters in 2019 but failed in terms of revenue. Therefore, with Sun People by Timothy Linh Bui, there have been many concerns for the film.

Director Timothy Linh Bui shared: "I know the story of vampires is not in Vietnamese culture, but when I talk to many Vietnamese people, everyone knows about vampires. I think the topic is not too strange, but I have to find a way to tell the story so that the film is as Vietnamese as possible so that the audience will find it reasonable."

According to Timothy Linh Bui, The Sun Man exploits the vampire image only superficially, while the main message of the film is about family affection, brotherhood, love... which are familiar to Vietnamese audiences.

The film will be released in theaters from December 8 (produced by Happy Canvas and Lotte Entertainment), featuring the following actors: Chi Pu, Thuan Nguyen, Tran Ngoc Vang, Trinh Thao, Thach Kim Long...
