Deputy Governor Nguyen Ngoc Canh works with Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City

On the afternoon of November 19, 2025, at the facility at 56 Hoang Dieu 2, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Ngoc Canh had a working session with the leadership and key staff of Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City.

Also attending the meeting were Ms. Nguyen Hong Van - Director of the Department of Finance and Accounting, leaders of departments and agencies of the State Bank.

On the school side, there were the attendance of Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Thanh Ha - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the School Council; Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung - Principal, Deputy Party Committee Secretary, Vice Chairman of the School Council together with leaders, key officials, comrades of the Party Committee Standing Committee, heads and deputy heads of units under and directly under the School, Heads of departments under the Faculty, Heads of offices under the Institute.

At the beginning of the working session, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung - Principal, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the School Council, on behalf of the School's Board of Directors, reported on the school's performance in the 2024-2025 school year. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized that HUB has made strong progress in recent years, and is proud to be a university that has surpassed all criteria according to the University Assessment Standards set in Circular 01/2024 issued by the Ministry of Education and Training in 2024.

Regarding the staff, the School currently has 583 permanent staff, including foreign experts. Of which, the number of professors and doctors accounts for 63% of the teaching staff, belonging to the group of schools with high quality academic human resources. Thanks to this advantage, HUB has expanded many new training majors, while still having a large room to increase the training scale based on the current student/lecturer ratio.

In terms of facilities, the School has 03 campuses with a total area of ​​up to nearly 12 hectares. The School has just received a new campus of more than 6,000 m² in Vung Tau, suitable for developing the Hotel and Restaurant Management industry and specific training programs. HUB is currently one of the schools with the largest number of smart classrooms in the country. The library is being invested in and built according to the model of "knowledge development and sharing space", aiming to become a modern learning resource center for students and lecturers.

Regarding quality assessment, HUB completed the AUN-QA assessment at the educational institution level last September and is in the final stages of completing the final procedures. The school is one of 17 universities nationwide to be accredited according to the AUN-QA standards; at the same time, it is the first school to assess the PhD program and is among the few schools to assess the dual degree program.

Regarding enrollment, HUB is currently the unit with the largest international cooperation market share in Ho Chi Minh City. HUB is also one of two universities in Vietnam licensed by the Ministry of Education and Training to cooperate in doctoral training, while maintaining a very high enrollment rate of 99%.

Regarding international cooperation, the University has a network of 108 strategic partners, including the National University of Singapore, the University of Zurich (Switzerland), the University of Toulon (France); the University of Adelaide, Macquarie, Griffith (Australia); the University of Bolton (UK) and many other prestigious universities, participating in major academic projects such as Erasmus+.

Regarding the business connection ecosystem, HUB builds a wide network of connections with the business community and professional associations, clearly demonstrating the orientation of interdisciplinary training. The school is one of the first units to train in Digital Accounting and is highly appreciated by students for its dedicated and quality teaching staff.

Along with professional activities, the School's Trade Union regularly organizes cultural and sports programs, cares for the lives of workers and actively participates in the activities of the Industry Trade Union. The Youth Union also implements many student movement activities and supports students.

Following the working session, the teachers and leaders of the units, along with the leaders of the departments and bureaus, also gave their opinions and exchanged their opinions in professional work to have close coordination between the State Bank and the School.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Governor Nguyen Ngoc Canh emphasized his wish for HUB to continue to develop strongly, aiming to become one of the leading universities in the region. The State Bank's leaders are always ready to accompany and support the School to effectively implement strategic plans and professional activities. In his speech, the Deputy Governor expressed his appreciation for the meaning of the School's brand and logo. The Deputy Governor said that the image of the shield clearly shows the role of protecting and contributing to the development of the country's Finance - Banking sector. The three letters HUB carry a positive message: H - Happy; U - Unity; B - Brand Brilliant, showing that HUB is a "happy school" and a place where the country's intellectual elite converge.

Deputy Governor Nguyen Ngoc Canh highly appreciated the enrollment work that has always maintained an impressive level of 99% for many consecutive years. The Deputy Governor said that this is a clear demonstration of the attractiveness of the training program, the quality of teaching and the reputation of HUB in the market. In addition, the School also performed well in quality assessment at all levels and training systems, thereby affirming its position as one of 36 facilities that continue to provide independent training nationwide.

From these results, the Deputy Governor suggested that the school develop specific plans to further promote its existing strengths. With the advantage of being one of the leading units in digital transformation activities, HUB can research and move towards establishing member schools such as the School of Technology, School of Finance, School of Languages, School of Law, etc. to expand the training ecosystem, anticipating the need for high-quality human resources in the future.

Regarding financial matters, the Deputy Governor acknowledged that the school has met the requirements of autonomy in regular and investment expenditures. The State Bank will direct the Finance and Accounting Department to coordinate and support the school in the implementation process to ensure quick, effective and correct implementation.

Concluding his speech, Deputy Governor Nguyen Ngoc Canh believed that with a solid foundation and the right development orientation, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to promote its tradition, affirming its position as a prestigious university education institution of the banking industry and the country.

The Chairman of the School Council also said that the development orientation will be pioneering but cautious, step by step, linked with strategic analysis to maintain sustainable development and in the right direction.

In addition, the school hopes to continue receiving guidance from management agencies so that the development process is both liberal and interdisciplinary, consistent with the policies of the Party, the Government and the characteristics of the industry. With the coordination of functional units and close guidance from the leaders of the State Bank, the school will strive to fulfill the assigned tasks well.
