Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that Vietnam and Cambodia promote the work of demarcating and planting border markers on land.

On July 17, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ung Rachana on the occasion of attending the 9th Political Consultation between the Vietnamese and Cambodian Foreign Ministries.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation delegation to visit Vietnam and conduct a political consultation between the two foreign ministries; and was pleased to see that the relationship between the two countries has developed well in all fields in recent times.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister emphasized that the two countries' regular exchange of delegations and high-level contacts have actively contributed to the increasingly close development of bilateral relations.

The regularly implemented cooperation mechanisms are an opportunity for both sides to review the commitments and agreements of the two countries' senior leaders, ministries and sectors, and coordinate to resolve and find new ways to promote substantive cooperation for common interests.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that both sides pay attention to promoting land border demarcation and border management; and promote connectivity in transport, border gates, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

Regarding cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister suggested that the two Ministries continue to promote their core role in promoting high-level visits as well as effectively implementing agreements, deepening the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Secretary of State Ung Rachana expressed his delight at leading the Cambodian delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to visit Vietnam and attend the 9th Political Consultation between the two Foreign Ministries, and congratulated the success of the recent 1st Congress of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.

Congratulating Vietnam on its domestic and foreign achievements in recent times, the State Secretary was pleased to see that the relationship between the two countries has continuously consolidated and developed over time, for the benefit of the people of each country.

Secretary of State Ung Rachana completely agreed with the assessments and sharing of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son; highly appreciated the close coordination between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and affirmed that the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will continue to promote more practical cooperation with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, improve the effectiveness of consultations and enhance the sharing of information, viewpoints and experiences in foreign affairs, first of all, closely coordinate to prepare well for the President of the Cambodian People's Party, President of the Cambodian Senate Hun Sen to attend the 80th Anniversary of Vietnam's National Day and upcoming bilateral cooperation mechanisms between the two countries.

On this occasion, Secretary of State Ung Rachana affirmed that Cambodia always remembers Vietnam for helping Cambodia escape the Pol Pot genocide.

The two sides agreed that the Political Consultation is a good cooperation mechanism for the two Ministries to enhance mutual understanding, increase coordination on both bilateral and multilateral levels, promote the role in promoting the realization of high-level agreements as well as cooperation between ministries, sectors and localities of the two countries, and actively contribute to the Vietnam - Cambodia cooperative relationship.
