The program approved a report on the results of caring for union members, workers, and families with difficult circumstances in the province. Accordingly, with the tradition of "Repaying gratitude", "The good leaves cover the torn leaves", in recent years, social security work, especially caring for the lives of families of people with revolutionary contributions and the poor, has always been directed and implemented by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lai Chau province. From the state budget, the support of organizations and individuals inside and outside the province in 2023, social security work, caring for the lives of families with revolutionary contributions and the poor in Lai Chau province has achieved many encouraging results. Up to now, the province is managing 7,833 files of people with meritorious services, the number of people with meritorious services receiving monthly preferential allowances is 649 people with a total payment of more than 1.5 billion VND. The province has directed the full and timely implementation of preferential policies for families of people with revolutionary contributions.
The province has well implemented regular and emergency support policies for social protection beneficiaries in the province. In 2023, the province had over 15,000 social protection beneficiaries receiving regular subsidies in the community, with an amount of over 98 billion VND; emergency subsidies for 153 households with dead or injured people, collapsed, burned or damaged houses due to natural disasters and fires, with a cost of over 18.6 billion VND. Focus on effectively implementing support policies for poor households, near-poor households, and newly escaped poverty households. Thereby, the whole province reduced 4,622 poor households, the poverty rate decreased by 4.66% compared to 2022.
With the motto that every family has Tet, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024, the province has allocated nearly 3.7 billion VND to visit and give gifts to 197 meritorious people, support 3,716 poor households who cannot celebrate Tet; organize visits and encourage 52 permanent units on duty during Tet. Every year, the Provincial Border Guard Command organizes the program "Spring Border Guard warms the hearts of the villagers" so that people can celebrate Tet early, ensuring safety, joy, excitement, and savings, imbued with national cultural identity, and close military-civilian relations.

Organize practical activities to support families to celebrate a "reunion, warmth and fullness" Tet, bringing spring love to each village, each family. In particular, pay attention to visiting and encouraging soldiers in the border areas, police forces, doctors and nurses, workers who have to be on duty during Tet because of their duties, and teachers in the villages. It is recommended that organizations, individuals and the business community continue to accompany and join hands, have practical activities, and contribute more to poverty reduction and social security.
