Photo: VNA According to VNA, within the framework of attending the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, China, on the afternoon of November 4, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha received Mr. Cung Chinh - Mayor of Shanghai. Mayor Cung Chinh warmly welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and the Vietnamese Government delegation to attend the 6th CIIE in Shanghai, in the context that in 2023 the two countries celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam - China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, and the relations between the two Parties and the two countries have developed well in all fields in recent times. Mayor Cung Chinh said that Shanghai's GDP in 2022 reached approximately 660 billion USD, ranking 5th in the list of the world's leading cities in terms of economic scale; GDP in the first 9 months of 2023 grew by 6% and is expected to reach over 5.5% this year; The main drivers of growth are investment, export and consumption, all of which have grown steadily. Expressing the importance of the friendly neighborly relationship, the China-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the direction of developing relations according to the high-level common perception, Mayor Gong Zheng affirmed his desire to further promote cooperation with Vietnamese localities, proposing three key areas to be promoted in the coming time: enhancing sustainable trade exchanges; expanding cooperation in production capacity and deepening cultural, educational and people-to-people exchanges, especially among the young generation, thereby contributing to consolidating and continuously promoting the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries. Photo: VNA At the reception, emphasizing the important role of Shanghai in the development of China and the world economy, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said that international trade promotion initiatives such as the CIIE Fair have contributed to promoting global trade growth, promoting the digital transformation and green transformation process. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha affirmed Vietnam's consistent policy in strengthening the friendly neighborly relationship, comprehensive cooperation, "both comrades and brothers" with China, which was built and cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh, Chairman Mao Zedong and generations of revolutionary predecessors of the two countries. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Vietnamese Government always attaches importance to and is ready to support and create conditions to strengthen friendly cooperation between localities of the two countries, especially localities with traditional relations and great potential for cooperation such as Shanghai city. Expressing his approval and appreciation for Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng's proposal on key areas in the coming time, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha affirmed that the potential and space for cooperation between Vietnamese and Shanghai localities are very open. The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that Shanghai closely coordinate with Vietnamese ministries, branches and localities to concretize the high-level common awareness of the two Parties and countries; maintain regular exchanges and contacts; continue to effectively promote existing cooperation mechanisms, especially the friendly cooperation between Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City and some other localities of Vietnam such as Hanoi and Hai Phong; make the most of each side's potential and strengths, further enhance the effectiveness of economic-trade, investment and tourism cooperation; apply trade facilitation measures, create conditions for Vietnamese goods to be exported to Shanghai; enhance sharing and exchanging experiences in urban development and management, innovation, investment attraction, and monetary finance.
