(QNO) - This afternoon, May 9, the Provincial Women's Union and the State Bank of Vietnam, Quang Nam branch, signed a cooperation program for the period 2023 - 2027.
The signing of the program aims to improve the effectiveness of coordination between the State Bank and the Provincial Women's Union in promoting the implementation of gender equality goals for women in the banking and finance sector, for the advancement of women in the banking sector and enhancing the capacity of the Women's Union at all levels in implementing microfinance activities.
The Provincial Women's Union and the Provincial State Bank agreed to sign a cooperation program with four key contents. That is, to coordinate the effective implementation of policies and laws on social policy credit activities, credit for agricultural and rural development and other types of credit.
Organize activities to improve the effectiveness of the implementation of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy, focusing on financialeducation for women, contributing to limiting black credit. Raise awareness and move towards good implementation of the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period 2021 - 2030.
In addition, the two sides will coordinate to increase information sharing, closely coordinate in communications work, social security work, etc.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Pham Trong - Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Quang Nam branch, said that the signing and implementation of the cooperation program between the two sides in a practical and effective manner will promote the goal of gender equality for women in the implementation of banking and finance.
Ms. Dang Thi Le Thuy - President of the Provincial Women's Union said that the goal of the coordination program will be to support officials, members, and women to improve their understanding and financial capacity, and to access and safely and conveniently use financial products and services that suit their needs.
In recent times, the State Bank and the Provincial Women's Union have closely and effectively coordinated in implementing credit programs to serve production development and people's lives. Currently, the Provincial Women's Union is managing the largest entrusted debt among socio-political organizations.
By the end of March 2023, the outstanding loan balance entrusted through the Women's Union reached VND 2,711 billion, accounting for nearly 40% of the total outstanding loan balance entrusted by the Provincial Social Policy Bank. Through monitoring, the quality of lending through Women's Union organizations has been increasingly improved and effective.
