Amorim's demeanor helped him keep his job at MU.

Jamie Carragher believes Ruben Amorim remains at Old Trafford not because of his achievements, but because his charisma and good looks help him "score points" in press conferences.

Ruben Amorim is facing many challenges at MU.

In the program The Overlap Fan Debate , former Liverpool defender Carragher commented: “He’s great in front of the camera, but because he didn’t win, everyone is upset. If Amorim had won, everyone would have praised his interesting personality. But now, if he weren’t handsome, he probably would have been sacked a long time ago. The result is clearly disastrous.”

Carragher frankly compared Amorim to Jose Mourinho and Brian Clough – managers who always attract attention with their attention-grabbing statements, but more importantly, they are winners. “Audiences listen to Mourinho or Clough because they bring trophies. Amorim hasn’t,” Carragher concluded.

Statistics reveal a harsh truth: Amorim has only won 18 out of 46 games managing Manchester United. Last season, the "Red Devils" finished 15th in the Premier League and lost to Tottenham in the Europa League final. This season, they lost to Arsenal at Old Trafford, drew with Fulham, were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Grimsby Town – a lower-league team – and only won against newly promoted Burnley thanks to a penalty in injury time.

Amorim's greatest strength is his straightforwardness. But this also becomes a double-edged sword. After the defeat against Grimsby, he declared: "The way we started was terrible, completely lost. At times I hate my players, at times I love them. Sometimes I want to give up, sometimes I want to stay for 20 years."

His outspoken remarks divided public opinion, especially after Amorim once called Manchester United under his management "the worst team in the club's history."

Jamie Carragher believes Ruben Amorim remains at Old Trafford not because of his achievements, but because his charisma and good looks help him "score points" in press conferences.

Paul Scholes, Carragher's colleague on The Overlap , blames the transfer policy. According to him, the management failed to address key weaknesses: MU lacked goals, the midfield was sluggish, and the goalkeeper didn't inspire confidence. Amorim was still struggling between Casemiro, Fernandes, Mainoo, and Ugarte, but couldn't find a stable formula.

Looking ahead, MU has two crucial matches that could be pivotal for Amorim's future. After the international break, they will travel to the Etihad for the Manchester derby on September 14th, and then host Chelsea at Old Trafford just a week later. If the results continue to be poor, INEOS's patience may run out.

Amorim retained his position, at least thanks to his persuasive remarks in the press conference. But as Carragher sarcastically remarked, at Old Trafford, "looks and charisma" cannot replace victories.
