Head of the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, Mr. Ho Dinh informed that currently the rice is in the stage of heading, some areas have already blossomed. Through field inspection, some rice pests such as brown spot disease infected about 850ha, grain rot disease infected 45ha, leaf roller infected nearly 500ha, spider mites infected 580ha with a rate of 5-20%, in some places 30-40%. Rats are causing damage in many fields with an area of 866ha, a rate of 5-10%, in some places 20%. Other pests such as planthoppers, whiteflies, grain rot, stem rot, brown spots, brown bricks... cause damage with low density and disease rate.
According to the forecast of the provincial Hydrometeorological Station, from the end of July and the beginning of August, due to the influence of low pressure, there is a possibility of widespread rain, affecting the flowering process of rice plants. The remaining days will be hot and sunny, with high temperatures, showers in the evening and at night, creating hot and humid conditions, favorable for some harmful organisms to increase in the fields.
In order to promptly manage and prevent pests and diseases during the rice flowering and ripening stages, the provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, together with localities and cooperatives, continues to closely monitor weather developments and rice growth and development. Professional staff strengthen field inspection and supervision, early detection of harmful organisms, and instruct farmers on timely prevention and control on a small scale, avoiding subjectivity so that harmful organisms arise and cause serious damage, affecting summer-autumn rice productivity.
For small leaf rollers, which are expected to hatch from July 25-30, from now on, localities and farmers should strengthen investigation, monitoring, assessment of density, distribution area, and zoning to spray areas with high density. For brown planthoppers and whiteflies (whiteflies), check the fields 2-3 days after spraying. If the planthoppers continue to hatch and the tendency of planthoppers to develop increases, spray a second time to prevent re-infection. As for spider mites, it is necessary to focus on cleaning the field banks to limit the habitat of spiders, regulate water properly; carefully check and detect early spiders that cause damage on leaf veins and leaf sheaths to spray appropriate pesticides.
To prevent grain rot, cooperatives and farmers regulate water properly, ensure enough water for irrigation to limit grain rot, spray pesticides when the rice is sparsely heading (3-5%) and after the rice has finished heading (after the first spray: 5-7 days). Farmers must choose pesticides that are effective in preventing grain rot and treating brown stripe, yellow leaves, and leaf sheath rot... appropriately and effectively. During the heading-flowering stage, rice plants often have a sweet taste, so priority should be given to mechanical measures (such as clamp traps, sticky traps...) and manual mouse catching.
The process of spraying pesticides to prevent pests and rats must follow the "4 rights" principle, spraying enough pesticides and water per unit area (20-30 liters/500m2). Spray pesticides in the evening, after spraying if there is a thunderstorm, spray again a second time to limit re-infection of pests. The fields must be kept watered from the time the rice forms panicles until they bloom and ripen, and the fields must only be drained 7 days before harvest.
According to the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, the whole province planted about 25,184 hectares of summer-autumn crop. Up to now, the rice area has blossomed about 1,538 hectares, the remaining rice area is in the stage of heading and some harmful pests have begun to appear. For small leaf rollers, when the worms are 1-3 years old, it is necessary to use preventive sprays such as Incipio 200SC, Chlorferan 240SC, Virtako 1.5GR, Map Winner 5WG, Verismo 240SC. For brown planthoppers and whiteflies, spray Acnipyram 50WP, Nitensuper 500WP, Chess 50WG, Cheestar 500WG, Starcheck 755WG... For spider mites, spray Nissorun 5EC, Nilmite 550SC, Sulox 80 WP, Aba-navi 40EC... For grain sterility, spray Amistar Top 325SC, Nevo 330EC, Anvil 5SC. For striped leaf blight, spray Validacin 5L, Amistar Top 325SC, Mixperfect 525SC... |
