Phu Yen Online - Worker sentenced to prison for beating co-worker to death on concrete floor

On the afternoon of June 1, the People's Court of Phu Yen province held a first-instance trial of a criminal case and sentenced defendant Le Nhu Hoa (born in 1987, residing in Suoi Bac commune, Son Hoa district) to 8 years in prison for murder.

According to the indictment, Le Nhu Hoa is a worker at the Son Hoa Tunnel Brick Company (Suoi Bac Commune) working the same shift as Mr. NVP (residing in Son Ha Commune, Son Hoa District). Due to a conflict during work, on the afternoon of December 4, 2022, at the Son Hoa Tunnel Brick Factory, Le Nhu Hoa used his hand to hit Mr. NVP in the face on the fuel storage floor 3.2m from the concrete floor, causing Mr. P to fall unconscious. Seeing Mr. P fall, Hoa called the company manager. Everyone took Mr. P to the Binh Dinh Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment, but due to severe injuries, Mr. P died 3 days later.

According to the autopsy conclusion of the authorities, Mr. NVP died of multiple injuries, skull fracture, brain contusion; broken cervical vertebrae, and severed cervical spinal cord.

At court, defendant Hoa confessed honestly, repented, apologized to the victim's family and voluntarily compensated the victim NVP's family 150 million VND. NVP's mother asked for a lighter sentence for defendant Hoa.

Based on the nature, severity of the crime and the defendant's personal background, the Provincial People's Court's Trial Panel sentenced defendant Hoa to the above sentence.
