From 2011 to now, Mr. Siu Gioi - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Tra Ba Ward has donated blood 21 times. Each time he donates blood, he feels comfortable because he has done something very meaningful. Mr. Gioi happily said: "I have participated in blood donation many times but am still healthy and can go to work normally. So I have encouraged and guided some young people in Ngo village, Khun village (Tra Ba ward), A village (Gao commune) to donate blood. The young people I have encouraged to donate blood have encouraged and guided others to participate. Everyone is happy because they have done something meaningful and humanitarian."
In addition to Mr. Gioi, in Tra Ba ward, there are also Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung - Vice Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, Mr. Chien - Secretary of the Ward Youth Union, Mr. Pham Minh Toan - Deputy Secretary of the Ward Youth Union... who have also participated in voluntary charity activities many times. Although they are Catholics, whenever they have the conditions, Mr. Nguyen Thai Phong and Ms. Le Thi Thanh Hue (Group 1, Hoa Lu Ward) and Ms. Nguyen Thuy Trang (Group 8, Hoa Lu Ward) register for health screening before donating blood. Up to now, Mr. Phong and Ms. Hue have donated blood 7 times, Ms. Trang has donated blood 5 times. Ms. Hue shared: “Catholics always believe that giving is forever. Therefore, my husband and I are always happy to participate in donating blood. Every time we finish donating blood, we feel the happiness of giving.”
Mr. Do Ngoc Anh - Head of the Hoa Lu Immaculate Mother Parish - informed: "The dignitaries, officials and parishioners here are always willing to share love with those in need, especially those who are sick. Whenever there is information about HMTN, people call each other or interact through social networking sites to participate in HMTN".
Thanks to the enthusiastic response of everyone, especially those who directly donate blood and the close coordination of the Provincial General Hospital, Military Hospital 211, the City Children's House, clubs, etc., Pleiku City always exceeds the assigned targets. In 2022, Pleiku City received 1,504 units of blood, reaching nearly 177% of the annual target; in 2023, Pleiku City received 1,430 units of blood, reaching nearly 170% of the annual target; in the first quarter of 2024, Pleiku City received 667 units of blood, reaching more than 78% of the annual target.
Mr. Nguyen Van Do - Chairman of the Pleiku City Red Cross Society, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the City's Steering Committee for Blood Donation - said: "Building on the achieved results, in the coming time, we will continue to promote and mobilize everyone to register for blood donation. All blood received will be used for emergency care and treatment of patients."
