According to Allkpop, on August 25, PSY ended his 2024 "Summer Swag" concert series with a concert held at the Suwon World Cup Stadium, Gyeonggi Province (South Korea).
While preparing to perform his hit "That That," PSY took a moment to address the audience and express his gratitude to BTS' Suga, the male idol who is currently in the spotlight due to his drunk driving controversy.
Speaking to the crowd, PSY said: "I want to send my sincere thanks to Suga, who composed this song with me."
PSY's actions were shared by many fans on social media. They said that PSY showed his support for Suga despite the challenging situation when the BTS member was facing negative public opinion.
Previously, PSY and BTS members had a close relationship, especially V and Suga.
Suga (BTS) was found falling while driving an electric scooter while drunk on Hannam-dong Street, Yongsan-gu, Seoul at around 11pm on August 6.
When tested for blood alcohol concentration, the male singer violated up to 0.227%, much higher than the 0.08% driving license revocation level. Suga is the Kpop idol with the highest alcohol concentration violation to date, but he claimed that he "only drank one glass of beer".
Suga and his management company Big Hit Music were also suspected of intentionally minimizing the severity of the incident, when they said "electric scooter with seat" instead of "electric kickboard without seat" in their first apology post on August 7.
On the evening of August 23, the male singer appeared at Yongsan Police Station (Seoul) to receive questioning and investigation for about 3 hours.
On August 25, Suga once again apologized to the audience and the entire BTS group through a handwritten letter. He expressed regret and remorse for damaging BTS's reputation and disappointing fans.
