Under the early morning mist and the bitter cold of winter in the highlands, we felt warm when listening to the Party Secretary of Pu Cha village, Ho A Thai, talk about the joy and excitement of the villagers when the Party and the State paid attention to investing in construction works in the past year. Previously, Pu Cha was known as the "nothing" village because it had no solid roads, no electricity, no water for daily life, but in the days before the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024, the village has received attention for investment in spacious concrete roads and irrigation works. Up to now, the spacious and clean concrete road connecting National Highway 12 to the village has been completed. Seen from above, the road looks like a silk strip winding through the lush green forests to the end of the village. The route is more than 7km long and 3m wide, connecting Pu Cha village and neighboring areas with National Highway 12, meeting the travel and trade needs of the people, contributing to promoting socio -economic development and poverty reduction.

Mr. Ho A Thai confided: “The local Party Committee and government have paid attention to our village. Thanks to that, this year, the villagers have been invested in solid concrete roads. Remembering before, the road had not been built, the villagers had a hard time traveling during the rainy season. On sunny days, it took 30 minutes by motorbike to reach National Highway 12; but on rainy days, it was impossible to go anywhere because the road was slippery. Now that there is a concrete road, it only takes about 10 minutes to reach the main road. Not only is traveling convenient, but the villagers can also bring trucks into the village to transport agricultural products to the center, so they don't have to worry about traders forcing down prices anymore. Therefore, the villagers of Pu Cha village are very excited!”
Pu Cha residents no longer have to worry about water shortages for daily life and production; because the irrigation and domestic water works invested in and built since the beginning of the year have basically been completed. The works will provide water for daily life for more than 40 households and teachers and students of 2 Pu Cha kindergartens and primary schools. At the same time, it will provide irrigation water for 40 hectares of rice fields of the villagers.

Meeting us on the new concrete road leading to the village, Pu Cha Village Chief Ly A Lau excitedly shared: “It is true that there has never been a spring when 43 households with more than 280 people in Pu Cha Village have been as happy as this spring. The villagers wanted a concrete road, so the road was invested in; and there was also investment in irrigation works to provide water for daily life and production. In the past, to have water for daily life, 4-5 households had to share a pipeline to draw water from a stream 2-3km away from the village; and without water for production, many rice fields had to be abandoned. Now, with the help of the Party Committee and authorities at all levels, the village has invested in irrigation works to bring water for daily life and production to the village. With this investment, the villagers will try to do well in business to develop the economy and escape poverty.”

In the early days of spring, walking on the new, clean concrete road and visiting the pipeline system and domestic water tanks in the village, we were both happy and glad for the people here. The Mong people of Pu Cha village celebrated Tet more joyfully and completely. Hopefully, with the attention and investment in building these welfare works, it will add more motivation and promote the people of Pu Cha village to develop the economy, gradually improve the quality of life, and actively participate in the movements to build and protect the Fatherland in the coming time.
