In recent years, in addition to the attention of the Party and State through preferential policies for people with meritorious services, all levels, sectors, socio- political organizations, businesses and people have taken many practical actions to care for people with meritorious services.
Typical activities include supporting new construction and repair of houses; visiting and giving gifts of encouragement; receiving lifelong care for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; creating conditions to help wounded and sick soldiers, children of resistance fighters who are still healthy and educated, to access preferential loans to develop their family economy , etc.
Thanks to that, the meritorious people in the province have a standard of living equal to or higher than the average standard of living in the residential area. Not surrendering to injuries, many wounded and sick soldiers, despite carrying many wounds, with extraordinary determination, are always resilient, striving to develop the economy, becoming a shining example for their children to follow.
A typical example is veteran Pham Van Bao, village 18, Khanh Trung commune (Yen Khanh district), who is nearly 70 years old this year. Although he has a 61% disability, whenever he feels healthy and able to work, he devotes himself to doing business in agricultural production services. Mr. Bao said that after leaving the army, after many years of working in the fields and gardens, he only earned enough to feed his family two meals a day.
Worried and thoughtful, Mr. Bao and his wife decided to borrow more preferential loans to do business in agricultural supplies. The couple has successfully overcome difficulties, each year, the total amount of phosphate fertilizer and pesticides sold in retail reaches over 50 tons. At the same time, Mr. Bao's family also produces vegetable seeds, vegetables and fruits, supplying the market. The family's total annual income reaches about 300 million VND, creating jobs for local workers. Promoting the spirit of Uncle Ho's soldiers, Mr. Bao and his family actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, contributing to social activities in the locality...
For war invalid Nguyen Xuan Dich, Yen Thang commune (Yen Mo district), after years of participating in the fight to protect the Fatherland, performing international duties in Cambodia, when he returned to his homeland, he had many disabilities. The veterans' association at all levels and the locality created favorable conditions for him to access preferential loans from the Bank for Social Policies to open a carpentry workshop. With constant efforts, up to now, Mr. Dich's family has built 2 carpentry workshops, creating regular jobs for 4 workers, earning nearly 500 million VND in profit each year after deducting expenses.
Mr. Dich shared that, following Uncle Ho's teaching "Disabled but not useless", I always try to rise up, take care of my family's life, and have the conditions to help people in the same situation. I also received attention, support, and encouragement both materially and spiritually from the Party Committee, local government, Veterans Association, relatives, cousins, neighbors...
To have a stable material life and a happy family, wounded and sick soldiers have received the attention, care and encouragement of the whole society, including the boundless love of women. These women have clearly determined that they have accepted to "become a couple" and build a family with wounded soldiers, which means enduring hardships, difficulties and immeasurable sacrifices.
As for Mrs. Hoang Thi Man, Me town (Gia Vien district), the wife of a liberation soldier, she took on many "roles" by herself, taking care of her family life and actively participating in the Women's Union in Gia Vuong commune, now Me town. Mrs. Man's husband is Mr. Tran Van Phan, a first-class war invalid. Loving her husband, not afraid of difficulties and hardships, Mrs. Man always accompanies him, encourages him, soothes his war wounds and works with him to raise two children.
Thanks to his wife's support and hard work, now war invalid Tran Van Phan has a happy life. His children have built families and have stable lives, especially two sons and a daughter-in-law who all serve in the military. With all their heart and love, many women have quietly taken care of their husbands and children, especially when the weather changes and their wounds relapse, those women have always been there to care for and give the war invalids the strength to overcome their injuries.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Dung, Gia Phu commune (Gia Vien district) used to be the dream of many young men when she was eighteen or twenty years old, but she fell in love and married disabled soldier Nguyen Huu Xinh. When her three children were born, the burden of the family fell on her shoulders. While taking care of the young children and her husband whose old wound often recurred, Mrs. Dung worked hard to increase production to provide for her family's economy.
Despite the hardships, Mrs. Dung was always determined and optimistic. She encouraged and supported him to participate in social work. Thanks to that, Mr. Xinh was the Chief of Gia Phu Commune Police for nearly 10 years and was always an exemplary party member in the locality. Taking advantage of his days off, he and Mrs. Dung worked together to develop the family's economic model of gardens, ponds, and barns.
Now, their children have grown up and have stable families of their own. The economic model of the family of war invalid Nguyen Huu Xinh is increasingly stable and growing, providing a foundation for the grandparents to enjoy life with their children and grandchildren and improve their quality of life.
It has been 48 years since the country's reunification, with the attention of society and the efforts of wounded soldiers, families of martyrs, victims of toxic chemicals..., the lives of people with merit and relatives of martyrs have been increasingly improved and enhanced. The province has always paid attention to the implementation of policies and regimes for people with merit, ensuring that they are correct, sufficient and timely. All levels, sectors and the whole society have well implemented the movements of "Repaying gratitude", "When drinking water, remember its source". 100% of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers who are still alive are supported and cared for by agencies and units until the end of their lives.
Up to now, in the province, there are no more meritorious people who are poor households, the living standards of meritorious people are equal to or higher than the average living standards of people in their place of residence. With deep responsibility and affection, the Party Committee, government and people in the province have been and will continue to care with specific actions, giving the best feelings, to show gratitude, compensate for the losses, sacrifices and contributions of meritorious people in the struggles for national liberation, protecting the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
