(To Quoc) - After many years of research and development, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh (born in 1986, from Ha Nam province, currently living in Da Nang) has created 2D and 3D wooden models, which have become unique souvenirs and display items, contributing to promoting Da Nang tourism to visitors from near and far.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, his interest in 2D and 3D wood carving began in 2016 when he helped a friend make a gift. After moving to Da Nang , he came up with the idea of laser engraving on wood to make souvenirs to sell to tourists.

To invest in this field, Mr. Binh boldly spent about 300 million VND to buy a laser engraving machine and study graphic design...

In the beginning, Mr. Binh experimented with making simple items like keychains and gradually tried his hand at more complex and elaborate designs.

"Designing a model is like building a house; you have to understand the structure, details, patterns, and characteristic features of the building. First, you build from the foundation, then each column and beam, and only then do you move on to roofing and decoration...", shared Mr. Nguyen Van Binh.

Under Mr. Binh's skillful hands, the Dragon Bridge, the Golden Bridge, Linh Ung Pagoda, Ba Na Hills, and many other famous landmarks and wonders in Da Nang in particular and throughout the country in general... have been "miniaturized" and recreated in detail and vividly.

Mr. Binh shared that completing a product requires many steps; from researching the project and location through on-site observation or through images and videos, to brainstorming ideas, drawing images, and creating detailed models on the computer. Each product takes approximately 3-15 days to complete, depending on its complexity.

To create the models, the main material is wood; however, some specialized products are made from natural wood to allow for the carving of aesthetically pleasing patterns. Other materials such as paper, steel, thread, and plastic are also used.

According to Mr. Binh, a simple 2D model with 10-20 parts can be assembled in about 10 minutes, while a 3D model takes about 10 hours. "As for complex models with thousands of parts, it can take a whole week to complete," Mr. Binh said.

The products that Mr. Binh creates not only showcase his skill and creativity but also reflect the unique and diverse culture of each locality, attracting the attention of tourists both domestically and internationally.

Mr. Binh's products are also regularly displayed by the Da Nang Department of Tourism at various seminars, fairs, and events, contributing to promoting the city's tourism to visitors from near and far.

In addition, Da Nang city leaders frequently order models recreating the city's landmarks to give as gifts to partners or display during important visits. The photo shows a "miniature Da Nang" model made by Mr. Binh, which was given as a gift to the French Consul General Emmanuelle Pavillon-Grosser by the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, Tran Chi Cuong, on March 15th.
