Below the posts, many people said they witnessed this phenomenon this morning and shared additional photos taken.

Yesterday, May 11, an account shared an image of the sun's halo on social media with the status: "Sun halo seen from Phu Luong". Many people expressed their interest in the halo surrounding the sun, while others were curious about whether it signaled any weather phenomenon.

Sun halos create magical photos

Not long ago, many social networking sites also talked about the phenomenon of a halo surrounding the sun, which is said to have appeared in some northern provinces such as Hanoi , Lang Son...

Experts also concluded that this phenomenon often occurs and has many different names such as: solar halo, solar flare, halo sun, solar canopy...

According to the Hanoi Astronomical Society (HAS), scientists call it the 22-degree halo. The reason it is so named is because the radius of this halo is always approximately 22 degrees.

"Photos of the halo usually show clear skies and you can easily see the sun or moon. However, it usually appears before a storm and is a sign of thin cirrostratus clouds at altitudes of 6 km or more above us. These clouds contain millions of tiny ice crystals. The halo you see is a combination of refraction and reflection of light as it passes through these ice crystals," Earth Sky informed.

Experts say solar halos are an interesting phenomenon, but be careful when observing and photographing them. Looking directly at the sun without the proper equipment can cause serious damage to your eyes. Never look directly at the sun, even if it appears less bright through clouds or fog.

The continuous appearance of solar flares in Vietnamese provinces and cities is not an unusual phenomenon, as this phenomenon is often seen during the rainy and stormy season.
