On December 2nd, according to a report by Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, regarding the development of the rural electricity network, after reviewing and assessing the electricity supply capacity, approximately 1,742 households in 9 mountainous districts still lack electricity but have not yet been included in any investment plans or allocated funding for electricity supply.
Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province.
Of these, approximately 1,413 households are eligible for electricity supply from the national grid, with a total estimated investment of about 174 billion VND. Approximately 329 households are not eligible for electricity supply from the national grid.
To ensure the achievement of the target of 99.8% of households using electricity by 2025 as set out in Resolution No. 37/2021/NQ-HĐND dated December 8, 2021, the Provincial People's Committee has directed the implementation of several solutions.
The People's Committees of the districts shall organize the arrangement and stabilization of the population in areas, clusters, and hamlets with a small number of households living scattered into concentrated residential areas, and shall have annual implementation plans for the entire period 2021-2025.
Priority will be given to relocating households that are unable to access electricity from the national grid.
Based on this, the allocation of investment capital and national target programs should be integrated into existing investment sources and policies to ensure compliance with mechanisms and policies for electricity supply investment; the electricity supply needs of localities should be regularly reviewed, updated, and compiled, and reports and proposals should be submitted to competent authorities for monitoring and guidance in resolving issues.
The Department of Planning and Investment and the Department of Finance will balance budget funds and advise the Provincial People's Committee on promoting, mobilizing, and integrating support funds from the central budget, ODA, preferential foreign loans, national target programs, and other legitimate sources of capital to invest in providing electricity to households without electricity or without allocated investment funds in the 9 mountainous districts.
Electricity workers in Quang Nam province are fixing a power outage.
Mr. Thanh instructed the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board to expedite the investment in rural electrification from the national grid in Quang Nam province, ensuring timely electricity supply for households that currently lack electricity.
“Quang Nam Power Company should strengthen its management and operation to ensure the reliability and safety of electricity supply for the people. Annual capital should be allocated to invest in upgrading the power grid, improving the quality of electricity and the reliability of electricity supply for households in the nine mountainous regions, especially those without electricity,” Mr. Thanh suggested.
