Quang Ngai sends a "strong" warning to schools that intend to collect illegal fees in the new school year.

On the morning of September 10, regarding the fees collected at the beginning of the new school year, especially for the first grade of Primary School (Grade 1) and Secondary School (Grade 6) - an issue that is always of concern to parents and has caused a "storm" of public opinion, Dan Viet reporters have researched and discussed with government leaders and representatives of the Department of Education and Training of several districts, towns and cities of Quang Ngai province.

Mr. Hoang Hai - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Duc Pho Town said that before the opening of the new school year 2024 - 2025, based on the guidance and implementation from the provincial and central authorities, the Department of Education and Training of Duc Pho Town advised the town government to issue specific regulations on fees that are allowed to be collected and fees that are not allowed to be collected.

In addition, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Duc Pho Town have also directly given many instructions, reminders and notes to the Board of Directors of affiliated schools, absolutely not to violate, not to organize the collection of illegal fees in any form.

Similarly, speaking with PV Dan Viet , Head of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai City Nguyen Van Hung expressed that in the document issued by the city government and directed by the department, it also clearly stated, reminded, and required the school boards to comply with the regulations in collecting fees at the beginning of the new school year 2024 - 2025.

Accordingly, in the 2024-2025 school year, the fees that schools are not allowed to collect are for protecting school facilities, ensuring school security; supervising students' vehicles; cleaning classrooms, cleaning schools; and rewarding school administrators, teachers, and staff.

No fees may be collected for the purchase of machinery, equipment, or teaching aids for schools, classrooms, or school administrators, teachers, and staff.

No fees are collected to support management, teaching and learning organization and educational activities; repair, upgrade, and construction of new school facilities.

Like the leaders of other local authorities in the province, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tu Nghia district Nguyen Dang Vinh warned and affirmed that any schools in the area that are reported, discovered and determined to have collected illegal fees, "outside the rules", the school's Board of Directors and related teachers will be dealt with at the most severe level according to regulations, and at the same time, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training must also bear related responsibilities.
