On the morning of October 7, a representative of the Quang Ngai Department of Construction said that the unit is coordinating with the investor to complete procedures to receive the infrastructure of the National Highway 1A bypass, the section passing through Duc Pho ward, after the project ends the BOT toll collection period to recover capital in early 2026.

Accordingly, the transferred route is nearly 10km long (route km1092+577 - km1101+352), with the starting and ending points intersecting with National Highway 1A in Duc Pho ward.

This is the first build-operate-transfer (BOT) project in Quang Ngai province, invested by Thien Tan Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company, implemented in the 2008-2012 period with a total investment of more than 600 billion VND.

The project was signed under a BOT contract in 2008, started construction in December of the same year and officially collected capital recovery fees from April 18, 2012.

Initially, the toll collection period was more than 25 years, the toll station was located at km1108+040, Pho Khanh commune (old Duc Pho town). The completed bypass has contributed to reducing traffic through the urban center, limiting accidents and creating momentum for local socio -economic development.

By August 1, 2016, the project was merged with the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1A, a 30km section through Quang Ngai (km1063+877 - km1092+577), with a total investment of more than VND 2,000 billion, implemented by the Thien Tan - Thanh An joint venture.

After the merger, the toll station was moved from Pho Khanh commune (now Khanh Cuong commune) to km1064+730 in Nghia Thuong commune (now Tu Nghia commune). This BOT toll station is managed by Thien Tan BOT One Member Co., Ltd.

The relocation of the toll station was met with strong reactions from the people, forcing investors and authorities to apply a plan to reduce fares for vehicles in the surrounding area.

After adjustment, the toll collection period for the Duc Pho bypass route will be reduced from more than 25 years to 14 years, 2 months and 1 day, expected to end in March 2026.

When the project completes the transfer, the bypass infrastructure will be handed over to the State for management, and the toll collection time at Tu Nghia station will also be adjusted accordingly.
