On April 23, Mr. Tran Dinh Cam, Secretary of the Nghia Hanh District Party Committee, Quang Ngai, said that the district has accepted people's opinions on naming the newly established communes to have cultural and historical characteristics associated with the land.

Quang Ngai, a national historical relic, was named after the commune.

“The district held a meeting of the Standing Committee, the expanded Executive Committee and asked for opinions from retired officials, agreeing to name the four newly established communes as Nghia Hanh, Dinh Cuong, Thien Tin and Phuoc Giang.”

Specifically, Nghia Hanh commune was established on the basis of merging the entire area and population of 3 communes: Hanh Thuan, Hanh Trung and Cho Chua town.

Establish Dinh Cuong commune on the basis of merging the entire area and population of 3 communes: Hanh Duc, Hanh Phuoc, Hanh Thinh.

Dinh Cuong is a famous mountain in the locality. Not only that, this is also the place where many fierce battles and victories took place in the long resistance war. In 1993, the victory of Dinh Cuong mountain was ranked as a national historical relic.

Establish Thien Tin commune on the basis of merging the entire area and population of 3 communes: Hanh Thien, Hanh Tin Tay, Hanh Tin Dong.

Establish Phuoc Giang commune on the basis of merging the entire area and population of 3 communes: Hanh Dung, Hanh Nhan and Hanh Minh.

Phuoc Giang is the name of the river that flows through the above communes and has been associated with the lives of the people for generations.

Previously, Nghia Hanh district established 4 new communes based on the merger of 12 communes. The new commune name was taken from the district name with the serial number. Mr. Cam said that after editing the commune name, the district is collecting people's opinions and will complete it within the day. Preliminary information shows that 100% of the people agree with the commune name taken from the name of the mountain, river, village, and canton that has just been approved.

Similarly, Mo Duc district, after merging the entire area and population of 12 communes, established 4 new communes with the name of the district and number. People gave their opinions and the district listened, changing the names of the 4 new communes to Long Phung, Mo Cay, Mo Duc, and Lan Phong.

In which, Long Phung is the name of a famous local mountain, a cultural symbol of the land. Long Phung is also used to name the market, the village and many other places in the area.

Mo Cay is a national historical site. This is a “red address” associated with famous battles against Japanese fascism and American imperialism.

A typical example of the resistance against Japan was on the night of August 15-16, 1945, when the army and people of Duc Chanh commune coordinated with the revolutionary forces of Mo Duc district to attack and defeat the Japanese fascist forces in the Mo Cay area. This victory was one of the first battles against the Japanese in Quang Ngai, promoting the revolutionary movement throughout the province.

During the anti-American war, on June 7, 1966, Battalion 48 of the provincial armed forces heroically intercepted Battalion 3 of the enemy's Regiment 4, destroying 408 enemies, damaging 18 vehicles, and capturing 267 guns of various types.

According to the original plan, Tu Nghia district established 4 new communes on the basis of merging 13 existing communes, the name is the district name with the number. Now the district has a meeting, renaming the new communes: Tu Nghia, Ve Giang, Nghia Giang and Tra Giang.

Among these, Ve Giang commune (merging Nghia Phuong, Nghia Hiep communes and Song Ve town) and Tra Giang commune (merging Nghia Thang, Nghia Lam and Nghia Son communes) are named after the two largest rivers in Quang Ngai, Ve river and Tra Khuc river.

This is agreed by the people, because these two rivers are closely associated with the cultural and historical life of the people in the area for generations.

The people are interested in listening and changing the names of newly established communes in Quang Ngai. They believe that the arrangement of administrative units at the commune level is a very correct policy. However, the names of newly established communes must be easily identifiable signs of the land.
