On the morning of September 19, many localities in Quang Tri province let students stay home from school to cope with storm No. 4 expected to make landfall in the central region.

The Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri province has sent a document to units on proactively responding to storm No. 4. In particular, it requires heads of units and schools to proactively let students take time off from school, postpone meetings, competitions, conferences, and training sessions that are not really urgent, depending on the developments of the tropical depression and storm in each area.

Following the above directive, this morning, many localities such as Vinh Linh, Gio Linh districts, and Con Co island district have allowed students to stay home from school.

In some other localities such as Dong Ha city, Trieu Phong, Hai Lang, Dakrong, Huong Hoa districts... many schools proactively let students stay home to prevent storm No. 4.

The Department of Education and Training requires schools to proactively review and inspect facilities, especially classrooms, functional rooms, roofs, drainage systems, etc. to ensure safety against storms; deploy bracing of classroom doors; prepare evacuation plans, move students, teachers, documents and teaching equipment to safe places.

Depending on the specific developments of rain and storms in each locality, heads of units and schools proactively prepare necessary equipment such as sandbags, tarpaulins, drinking water, food reserves, and medicine to cope with heavy rain, flooding, and strong winds; check electrical systems and telecommunications equipment to prevent risks caused by lightning or power outages during storms. On the other hand, assign staff, teachers, and employees to be on duty 24/7 to prevent and combat storms.

According to the Quang Tri Province Hydrometeorological Station, early on September 19, the tropical depression in the northeastern area of Hoang Sa strengthened into a storm - storm number 4.

From this morning, coastal areas are directly affected by strong winds, which will gradually increase inland. There is a high risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas, flooding in low-lying areas, and landslides in Dakrong and Huong Hoa districts./.
