The personnel process is being carried out by the National Assembly at its 8th Session, which is taking place in Hanoi .
Specifically, on the afternoon of November 27, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh submitted a document requesting the National Assembly to approve the dismissal of Mr. Ho Duc Phoc (currently Deputy Prime Minister) and Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang from the positions of Minister of Finance.
After discussion in groups, National Assembly delegates held secret ballots and voted to approve the Resolution approving the dismissal of positions in today's working session, November 28.
Immediately afterwards, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh submitted a proposal to the National Assembly to approve the appointment of Mr. Nguyen Van Thang - member of the Party Central Committee, deputy of the 15th National Assembly to the position of Minister of Finance for the 2021-2026 term.
The National Assembly approved the Prime Minister's proposal by secret ballot.
The Secretary General of the National Assembly said that the National Assembly voted to approve the Resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint Mr. Nguyen Van Thang as Minister of Finance for the 2021-2026 term by electronic voting, with the following results: 452 delegates participated in the vote (equal to 94.36% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), 452 delegates approved (equal to 94.36% of the total number of National Assembly delegates).
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang was born in 1973, from Hanoi, worked at VietinBank from 1996 to July 2018, then held many local positions such as: Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province; Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang was approved by the National Assembly to be appointed as Minister of Transport from October 2022 until the 15th National Assembly approves him to hold the position of Minister of Finance.
