The three National Assembly leaders reaffirmed the significance and role of the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Development Triangle Area Cooperation (CLV-DTA) mechanism over the past 25 years, which has brought about many substantive results.
According to a special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the morning of October 18, within the framework of the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45), in the capital Vientiane, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Lao National Assembly Chairman , AIPA Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane, and Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Khuon Sudary had a working breakfast.
At the working breakfast, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Khuon Sudary congratulated Laos on its success in its role as Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) 2024; expressed confidence that with Laos' careful preparation and the experience of National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane, Laos will continue to be successful in its role as Chair of AIPA 2024, contributing to enhancing Laos' position and role in the region and the world.
National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane highly appreciated the support and assistance from Vietnam and Cambodia, helping Laos fulfill its responsibilities as ASEAN Chair 2024 and AIPA Chair 2024.
The three National Assembly Chairmen highly appreciated this meeting as a good opportunity for the three National Assemblies to promote more effective cooperation in the context of complicated and unpredictable developments in the regional and international situation; expressed their appreciation for the value of solidarity and cohesion between the three countries, the sacrifices for each other in the process of fighting for national liberation, protecting independence and sovereignty and in socio-economic development today, considering this a priceless asset that needs to be preserved and further promoted, for the benefit of each country and for all three countries.
The three National Assembly Chairmen agreed that the cooperative relations between the three countries, guided and directed by the leaders of the three Parties, are developing in all fields; in which defense-security cooperation continues to be a solid pillar; economic, trade-investment cooperation has developed strongly; cooperation in other fields such as tourism, education-training, culture, and people-to-people exchange has made many strong strides, with many innovative forms, contributing to tightening the relationship between the three countries.
At the same time, he affirmed that the National Assembly's cooperation is increasingly deepening and contributing to promoting comprehensive cooperation on all channels and levels; playing an important role in the cooperative relationship, especially in perfecting institutions, promulgating policies and laws, supporting the Government in socio-economic development, ensuring security and defense of each country as well as promoting connectivity between the three economies of Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia. The three sides agreed to coordinate and prepare well for the meeting between the leaders of the three Parties in the coming time.
In order to contribute to realizing the commitments of the three countries' senior leaders, the three National Assembly Chairmen agreed to increase regular bilateral and trilateral exchanges and contacts; closely coordinate in monitoring and promoting the implementation of cooperation agreements signed by the two and three sides and deploying trilateral cooperation mechanisms; promote exchanges and training of youth and young leaders to foster the future of cooperation between the three countries; continue to implement the Youth Cadre Training Program in border provinces and possibly expand to other provinces and cities of all three countries; closely coordinate in maintaining a peaceful, stable and friendly border between Vietnam-Laos, Vietnam-Cambodia and among the three countries.
National Assembly Chairman Khuon Sodary and National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane highly appreciated the fact that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man presented four initiatives that Vietnam put forward at the AIPA Young Parliamentarians Meeting on: Strengthening the role of young ASEAN parliamentarians; Enhancing social welfare rights and employment opportunities for the elderly in the ASEAN region; Promoting the elimination of violence against women and girls in ASEAN; and Enhancing institutional capacity to connect transportation, aviation, and seaports in the ASEAN region.
The three National Assembly leaders reaffirmed the significance and role of the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Development Triangle Area Cooperation (CLV-DTA) mechanism over the past 25 years, which has brought about many substantive results for the development of each country and strengthened the close relationship among the three countries; agreed to continue to strengthen the effective cooperation between the three countries in accordance with the development needs in the new period; and emphasized trust, solidarity and solidarity for the benefit of all three countries, for peace, stability, cooperation and development.
The three National Assembly Chairmen pledged to continue supporting each other at international and regional forums such as AIPA, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), the ASEAN People's Forum (APF), etc.
In particular, the National Assemblies of the three countries will continue to closely coordinate and effectively implement the contents of parliamentary cooperation and existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms; and agree to consider the mechanism of a working breakfast between the Chairmen of the National Assemblies of the three countries in the coming time./.
