This morning, July 10, the People's Committee of Gio An Commune, Gio Linh District, Quang Tri Province, in coordination with Ong Voi Production, Trade and Service Cooperative, organized the launching of the Gio An Ancient Well Community Tourism Cooperative. This is the first community tourism model in Gio Linh District.

Gio An commune has an ancient irrigation system with 14 wells that has been recognized as a national monument and the province is preparing a dossier to propose ranking it as a special national monument to continue preserving and exploiting it to serve tourism development and improve the material and spiritual life of local people.
The Gio An Ancient Well Community Tourism Cooperative was established with nearly 20 members in An Nha and Hao Son villages. For An Nha village, community tourism development is determined to be associated with agricultural models, visiting and experiencing fruit gardens, planting and harvesting international standard organic pepper, Bo Chinh ginseng garden; experiencing Dao well, Trang well, and the relic of Lord Nguyen Hoang Temple.
For Hao Son village, focus on developing community tourism associated with learning about cultural life and the system of Ong and Ba wells; experiencing planting, harvesting and processing dishes from vegetables... Currently, in these two villages, there are many homestays welcoming guests.
According to the plan for developing community tourism products in Gio An commune, in the period of 2024 - 2025, the focus will be on building and developing a community tourism model associated with the direct participation of the people and promoting the cultural, historical and natural landscape values in Gio An commune, increasing the attraction of tourists to the commune. Organize, introduce and promote for tourists to stay at accommodation establishments in the area. Provide tourism products to tourists and travel agencies in and outside the province.
In the period of 2025 - 2030, turn community tourism products into products that generate the main income for members participating in the group; strive for this community tourism destination to meet the criteria of a 3 - 4 star OCOP product.
