Reviewing the housing situation among ethnic minorities

According to the report of the People's Committee of Van Quan district, in 2024, Van Quan district will continue to support housing for over 174 poor households, with a total implementation cost of over 7.6 billion VND and assigned the People's Committees of communes and towns as investors. Up to now, the People's Committee of the district has approved a list of 139 households in need of housing support. The authorities of communes and towns have guided households to build houses and accepted 53 houses, disbursing over 2.1 billion VND. Regarding the content of supporting production land and job conversion, the district plans to support over 120 poor households and assigns the People's Committees of communes and towns as investors to implement the project, with a total allocated budget of over 1.2 billion VND. Currently, the communes and towns are reviewing beneficiaries and have not yet disbursed.

The objective of Project 1 is to support poor and near-poor ethnic minority households living in extremely disadvantaged communes and villages that do not have land or housing or have temporary, dilapidated housing to receive support for land and construction of housing that ensures 3 hard conditions (hard foundation, hard frame - wall, hard roof) suitable to local conditions; ensure that poor and near-poor households have access to clean water according to standards issued by competent authorities; increase job creation and support job conversion suitable to the needs and conditions of ethnic minorities in the area of residence.

To achieve that goal, the People's Committee of Van Quan district has directed the district's specialized departments and units to review, survey, and propose a list of investment projects to be implemented under the National Target Program 1719; organize appraisal of the list, the necessity of investment, ensuring compliance with the Resolution of the Van Quan District Party Congress, and in accordance with the district's socio -economic development plan for the period 2021 - 2025.

The project to support housing, land for production, and domestic water for households has practical significance, ensuring that ethnic minority people have essential conditions for housing and domestic water. Thereby, creating motivation to help them rise out of poverty and stabilize their lives.
