Previously, the movie Transformers: Rise of the Beasts received a score of 67% on Rotten Tomatoes, now it has dropped to 56% - the "rotten tomatoes" level. In 43 reviews of the movie, most of them are negative comments, besides some compliments (from reputable writers). While Seattle Times , IGN , TheWrap , Variety or Hollywood Reporter praised the movie, the rest "pouted".

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts receives poor rating on Rotten Tomatoes

In this new film, director Steven Caple Jr. (who made a splash with Creed II - 2018) still uses the old motif of the Autobots and new allies fighting against Unicron - the villains in the film. Appearing in this part are old and new characters. The characters that made an impression on the audience before are Optimus Prime, Bumblebee...; new allies include Wheeljack, Mirage, Scourge, Nightbird...

The seventh installment of the Transformers franchise continues to follow the "traditional" path of previous installments in bringing to the screen the struggle between alien factions. Variety , one of the sites that highly rated the film, said that this work is interesting and "inviting to the audience". The article emphasized that the robot designs in the film are very realistic, a plus point that attracts viewers - a strength that filmmakers have always exploited to the fullest in previous installments.

This page reviews the films directed by "explosion king" Michael Bay, commenting that since Bumblebee (2018) was released and the filmmaker left the director's chair, the Transformers brand has taken on a completely different spirit and does not need to be as flashy as the sizzling explosions on film, but the films still attract audiences.

One of the highlights of the seventh installment is the live-action adaptation of the Maximals – animal-like robots like Rhinox and Cheetor (these characters previously appeared in the animated series from 1996 to 1999). Variety praised the old characters for being refreshed and entertaining once again.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts adds many new characters but does not improve the script

At the other extreme, the film received abysmal reviews. The AP commented that the film brings a lot of robot animals to the screen; "but adding more robots doesn't save this boring movie," the site concluded. The AP pointed out that the biggest flaw in the script of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts , as with all previous films, lies in the struggle to balance the story lines between robots and humans.

Most of the articles, whether praising or criticizing the film, admit that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, with a production budget of up to 200 million USD and many new robot characters appearing, could have done better than what Michael Bay's previous films did, but everything still stood still, repeating the same mistakes that those films made. The film is scheduled to be released on June 9.
