Robot vacuum cleaner 'good' at cleaning the floor

Deebot T80 Pro Omni is a new product introduced by Ecovacs in the Vietnamese market in April. Located in the mid-range segment, this robot model is equipped with a floor-cleaning roller, a feature introduced to the vacuum robot from the Deebot X8 model in 2024.

The mop roller, like on vacuum cleaner models, works by combining the rotating, dirt-squeezing motion of the roller and the water spray feature from the clean water tank, sucking water into the dirty water tank on the robot body.

The roller is also continuously “washed” by the tight-fitting plastic pieces, which help remove stains and collect water in the dirty water tank. Due to the more complex way of working, compared to the rotating mop in a normal robot, which is just a wet mop rotated over the stains, the cleaning efficiency of the roller is much better.

The robot's mop can also be extended when cleaning close to the wall, and raised when encountering carpets. When tested with difficult-to-clean stains such as coffee and dried chili sauce, the T80 model cleaned almost completely, without leaving dark stains or making feet sticky like the T50 model using a rotating cloth. The floor after cleaning is also much drier than conventional robot models. However, when compared to a specialized floor cleaner such as the Tineco S9 model, the T80's cleanliness is still a bit lower.

In exchange for better cleaning ability, the T80 model is significantly thicker and heavier than its younger brother, the T50, although it still uses a LiDAR sensor on the body and does not have a positioning device on the head. The heavy machine can make users more hesitant when having to lift it off thin carpets, an "obstacle" that robot vacuum cleaners are very likely to encounter.

In addition to its outstanding mopping feature, the T80's vacuuming and cleaning modes are basically the same as Ecovacs' mid-range and higher models. The robot has the ability to vacuum, dump dust into a large dust bag, wash cloths with hot water, and dry with hot air when returning to the charging station.

The main brush of the machine is a rubber type combined with bristles, with anti-tangle comb teeth in the dust box. The T80 has a suction power of 18,000 Pa, equivalent to the high-end X8 model and is in the group of robots with the strongest suction power on the market today. Practical experience shows that the robot is good at sucking up small dust and trash such as fingernails and coffee beans. The new side-sweeping brush design is quite unique, with only 2 brush arms instead of 3 brush arms like conventional robots.

The current generation LiDAR sensor ensures good navigation, obstacle avoidance and very fast mapping. However, some wired objects such as shoelaces, charging cables or corners of thin carpets are sometimes sucked in by the robot, causing the broom to get stuck. There is also an auxiliary light next to the camera to identify and avoid obstacles appearing in the front.

In addition to the obstacle avoidance function, the robot's camera can be used for remote monitoring in the home. When the robot gets stuck, you can also open the camera to guess the object that is preventing the robot from continuing to operate.

With a listed price of 18.9 million, and around 17 million in many online stores, the T80 Pro Omni is a worthy choice if users are looking for a multi-purpose cleaning robot, especially for mopping. Rival brands such as Dreame and Roborock also have some lines with special features but at a higher price range.
