Nobel Prize-winning author's book sells out

Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai - winner of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature - has had several works published in Vietnam. His novels sold well immediately after the award announcement night.

Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai was announced as the winner of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature on the afternoon of October 9 (Vietnam time). He has a number of famous works such as Satantango, War & War, Baron Wenckheim's Homecoming.

Of these, two works, War and War and Satan's Dance, have been released in Vietnam. On October 10, a representative of Nha Nam Book Company - the publisher of László Krasznahorkai's works - said that when the 71-year-old writer's name was announced by the Swedish Academy, a fever for his works broke out.

"On the morning of October 10, there were still a few copies of Satan's Dance in the bookstore , but by the afternoon they were all sold out," said a representative of Nha Nam. The company also said it would try to bring Krasznahorkai László's work back to readers as soon as possible.

The well-known book retailer Binh Ban Books also said that its warehouse had run out of copies of the Nobel Prize-winning author’s work. However, the brand owner also reassured readers, affirming that the novel would be reprinted very soon.

László Krasznahorkai is a Hungarian novelist and screenwriter. He is known for his extremely difficult and demanding novels, often labeled as postmodern, with themes of melancholy and bleak melancholy.

Krasznahorkai has been honored with many literary awards. Before the Nobel Prize for Literature, he won Hungary's Kossuth Prize and the 2015 Man Booker International Prize for his work translated into English.

Satan's Dance - his debut work - is set in an isolated camp, the novel unfolds over a series of long, rainy autumn days. In the deserted farmhouse, only a dozen or so people remain, along with the stench of failed plots, betrayals, failures, and infidelity. The novel is structured like a tango, each chapter is a long paragraph without line breaks, like an endless dance.

This book is presented as a literary maze that tests the reader's patience. László Krasznahorkai's trademark long, winding sentences without punctuation.
