Socializing textbooks is considered an appropriate step in the process ofeducational innovation, especially in the context of implementing the 2018 General Education Program with the requirement of comprehensively developing students' qualities and capacities.
After a period of implementation, this policy has gradually revealed many clear advantages. Notably, the quality of books has been improved day by day in both content and form.
As both a school administrator and a direct teacher, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Hong - Principal of Chuong Duong Secondary School ( Hanoi ) has a comprehensive and profound view of the process of implementing the socialization of textbooks in practice.
According to her, one of the most outstanding features of implementing the “one program – many sets of books” model is creating a breakthrough change in the approach to teaching and learning.
In the past, when there was only one set of official textbooks, teachers had almost no choice and were forced to use somewhat stereotyped content and presentation that was not really suitable for the characteristics of students in each region and each school.
However, nowadays, when there are many different sets of books that meet the requirements of a unified program, teachers are empowered to select and evaluate teaching materials, thereby flexibly developing plans suitable to students' abilities, teaching conditions, regional characteristics and the school's professional orientation.
“Having many sets of books not only brings initiative, but also gives teachers the opportunity to innovate their teaching methods in a more creative way,” Ms. Hong shared.
Not to mention, when there is a choice, teachers are forced to carefully study the content of each set of books, compare and analyze to make appropriate decisions, instead of teaching in a rut. That process stimulates professional thinking, self-study and self-improvement spirit of teachers, while improving the ability to build lectures and organize effective learning activities.
Students also benefit when the knowledge content is conveyed more closely, vividly and closely to reality.

Another aspect that Ms. Hong also highly appreciated was the positive impact of the socialization of textbooks on the quality of compilation and publication. According to her, when the monopoly mechanism was no longer in place, many publishers and groups of authors participated in compiling books, creating a healthy competitive environment. Each unit tried to invest more in both content and presentation, inviting the participation of reputable experts, teachers and scientists to ensure the highest quality.
In addition, the socialization policy has also opened the door to attract intellectual resources from the whole society into the book-making process, when gathering not only experts from institutes and universities but also a team of experienced general education teachers. This close coordination between theory and practice helps the book series to be designed to ensure both scientificity and closeness to the reality of teaching in general schools.
At the same time, the process of appraising and evaluating books before putting them into use is also organized closely and objectively, contributing to improving the transparency and quality of the textbooks used in teaching.
Parents are no longer "outside" of their children's education
Meanwhile, from the parents' perspective, the policy of socializing textbooks also brings many advantages, helping parents more easily accompany their children in the learning process.
Ms. Tu Thi Diep - parent of Do Thi Khanh Ngoc, a student at Van Tao Secondary School (Hong Van Commune, Hanoi) shared: "At first, when implementing the policy of one program - many sets of books, we parents really felt quite confused. Many people were worried about which books their children would study, whether the content was suitable or not, and how to find books or support their children to study at home?".
However, after a period of implementation, Ms. Diep said that she gradually changed her thinking and realized many remarkable advantages.
According to her, having many sets of textbooks widely distributed makes the process of finding and buying books easier and more convenient for parents. The situation of scarcity and long queues at bookstores every school year like before has significantly decreased, due to the diverse supply of books and competition between publishers.
In addition, current textbooks are compiled in a modern, intuitive, easy-to-understand way, not only helping students access knowledge easily but also helping parents easily follow their children's study program. The content of the books is presented coherently, combined with many vivid illustrations, creating favorable conditions for parents to review lessons with their children, explain knowledge or guide them to do homework at home.
While accompanying her child to study at home, Ms. Diep highly appreciated the quality of the Canh Dieu textbook series. She said that compared to other series, Canh Dieu books have thick paper quality, moderate brightness, clear printing and harmonious colors, not causing eye strain when reading.
On the other hand, the book's beautiful presentation and familiar, easy-to-understand language help students become more interested in learning and help parents easily interact with their children during the learning process.
In particular, the content of the Canh Dieu book is designed to be open and highly practical, helping students not only acquire theoretical knowledge but also practice the ability to apply it to life. The lessons are often open-ended, encouraging critical thinking and exploration, and have additional appropriate suggestions so that parents can participate in supporting their children's learning effectively at home.

Previously, when teaching her children at home, Ms. Diep often felt confused, especially when choosing exercises that were appropriate for her children's abilities. She shared that many times she did not know what type of exercises to give her children and at what level to ensure that they understood the lesson without creating too much pressure. However, with the Canh Dieu textbook, this problem has been solved thanks to the exercise system designed in a hierarchical manner, suitable for many different levels of students.
According to her, the textbooks that build a system of exercises from basic to advanced will help students choose and do exercises that are appropriate to their abilities. Thanks to that, children will no longer feel overwhelmed or worried when studying, but will approach knowledge in a more gentle and natural way.
At the same time, as parents, it is easy to observe and evaluate your child's ability and level of understanding through each specific type of exercise.
“Designing a scientific and flexible exercise system like the Canh Dieu textbooks are doing not only helps reduce pressure on students but also contributes to enhancing the role of parents in the process of accompanying learning at home.
From being passive and confused, now not only me but many parents whose children study Canh Dieu textbooks can be more confident when studying with their children, clearly understand what level their children are at and what support they need to progress. This is also one of the positive points that the socialization of textbooks brings to families," Ms. Diep emphasized.
The Canh Dieu textbook series is highly appreciated by many teachers thanks to its clear, coherent design and ease of use in teaching practice. The reasonable presentation of lessons and concise, clear and flexible content help teachers easily develop teaching plans suitable for the level and capacity of each class.
Not only stopping at printed books, Canh Dieu also provides a rich learning materials system, providing maximum support for teachers in the process of preparing lectures. The accompanying digital learning materials currently include more than 400 digitized textbooks, 70,000 illustrations, 4,000 audio files, 1,200 video clips, 2,000 lesson plans by grade and subject, along with 40,000 questions and tests, assessments. These resources help teachers save a significant amount of time preparing lessons, while improving the quality of teaching.
