Forbes magazine reported today (November 20) that Mr. Sam Altman, the former CEO who was recently fired by OpenAI, will not return to the company. Mr. Altman is the father of the famous ChatGPT application.
Instead, OpenAI's board of directors has unanimously approved former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear as interim CEO.
The decision brings an end to the chaos that began on November 17, after Mr. Altman was suddenly fired.

This also ends speculation that the board was trying to convince Mr. Altman to return. Previously, investors as well as a number of key employees of OpenAI had pressured the company's board of directors to convince Mr. Altman to return.
The news was also reported by Bloomberg. According to the report, OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever wrote to employees, saying that Mr. Altman would not return to the CEO position.
Multiple sources said Greg Brockman, who resigned as chairman and left the OpenAI board on November 17, had been planning to raise capital for a new startup with Mr. Altman.
On November 18, key executives and leaders at OpenAI expressed support for Mr. Altman, including CEO Brad Lightcap and CTO Mira Murati.
Absent from the supporters was Mr. Sutskever, OpenAI’s chief scientist, who was one of the figures pushing the board to fire Mr. Altman.
