Samsung has prepared early for the AI “revolution”
2023 will see a huge explosion of AI tools, especially generative AI, with the promise of life-changing capabilities. However, along with the potential, users’ concerns about AI still remain, requiring AI to be applied in a more intimate and trustworthy way.
According to a Business Wire survey, 73% of users believe AI will have a positive impact on their lives, but 45% do not understand how AI is implemented.
Samsung has seen the potential of artificial intelligence for over a decade. It has applied AI very early on smartphones, such as the Galaxy Note9. The device has a smart camera and photo editing system. The device also optimizes battery life and screen brightness thanks to artificial intelligence.
In 2018, Samsung also achieved more than 11,200 AI patents (3rd most in the world ).
Furthermore, a series of the company's serious and long-term research results have been announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Samsung AI Forum 2023, notably Samsung Gauss and Galaxy AI.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Quan - Director of Product Strategy Samsung Vina said: "Samsung Gauss will focus on 3 areas including images, language and programming. From there, supporting devices will be optimized for the lives of each individual user".
Not only investing in researching AI solutions, over the years, Samsung has also built cooperative relationships with many "big guys" to bring comprehensive technology experiences; many big names can be mentioned as: Qualcomm, Meta or Microsoft... Recently, when announcing the strategic vision "AI for All - AI for all" at CES 2023, Samsung also affirmed that cooperation is the way for this corporation to "comprehensively" experience AI for users' lives.
Solving the security problem
With serious investment in AI, Samsung also quickly realized the concerns of users when using this tool, especially security issues. That is why the company has introduced many leading advanced solutions including: Knox Matrix, Auto Blocker, Zero Click... to ensure device protection and information security.
Specifically, the Samsung Knox platform includes security mechanisms and prevents all intrusions and threats that endanger the device. Auto Blocker - a Samsung Galaxy user security tool, is designed to protect smartphones but is compatible with the user's usage style.
In particular, Samsung pioneered the Hybrid AI model (a combination of on-device AI and cloud AI) when first introducing Galaxy AI to the public. This combination allows Samsung to master AI more proactively, combined with personalized security systems, and Samsung also "puts control" in the hands of users.
“The Hybrid AI model is what makes Galaxy AI different from conventional AI applications. In other words, Galaxy AI is the first smartphone to offer a Hybrid AI solution,” said Nguyen Minh Quan.
In addition, through the AI Red Team, Samsung continues to develop the ability to proactively eliminate and monitor security and privacy issues that may arise throughout the entire process. “From data collection to AI model development, service deployment and AI-generated results… all comply with the AI “ethics” principle,” emphasized a Samsung Vina representative.
Potential or concerns about AI, reactions of big companies and solutions to cope... That is what AI experts from FPT , Samsung and journalists discussed on the talk show "Will AI master AI?" of HTV channel on January 13.
From the experts’ perspective, the “perfect” AI tool needs to be easy to use, easy to understand, customizable, and personalized. At the same time, users need to feel secure when using this tool.
With a well-planned strategy, Galaxy AI is expected by technology enthusiasts to be the "new future" not only of the mobile industry but also of the AI industry, turning AI into a close, practical tool and giving control to users.
