Long Thanh airport project will be basically completed in 2025, organizing calibration flights, technical flights and putting into commercial operation in the first half of 2026.
The Ministry of Construction has just reported to the Prime Minister on the implementation status of the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project Phase 1.
Passenger terminal expected to be completed in November 2025
According to the report, as of June 30, 2025, Component Project 1 - State management agency headquarters will be completed in December 2025. Of which, the investor is currently focusing on implementing two Animal and Plant Quarantine Headquarters projects, closely controlling progress to ensure completion on schedule.
Component 2 Project - Air traffic management facilities are also being accelerated. To date, the Air Traffic Control Tower has been constructed to a height of 107.93/115m and is continuing to expand the tower from the 15th floor up. The project is expected to be completed before September 30, 2025.
Other items such as: Primary/secondary radar station, radio transmitter-receiver station, dependent monitoring station, meteorological radar station, multi-directional navigation and range measuring station have completed construction and are expected to be fully completed in August 2025.
For Component Project 3 - Essential Works, Package 4.6 - Runway No. 1 was completed on April 26, 2025, with the construction volume reaching about 90% of the output value. This package is likely to be completed in December 2025.
The third runway, invested by ACV, broke ground on May 30, 2025. Currently, the roadbed, taxiways and drainage system are being constructed, and are expected to be completed in December 2025.
Notably, Package 5.10 - Passenger Terminal, has so far completed the entire reinforced concrete structure of the underground part and floors 1 to 4. The steel structure (including the central roof, wing roof, telescopic bridge, facade support frame...) has been completed by nearly 80%, and is expected to complete the entire roof before November 30, 2025. The installation of the facade glass wall is also expected to be completed in November 2025.
Ensure adequate materials, no interruption of construction
Based on the results of the actual review, to ensure that the project is basically completed in 2025, organize calibration flights, technical flights and put into commercial operation in the first half of 2026, the Ministry of Construction has requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to urgently complete the selection of investors to implement the Project of construction and business of aircraft maintenance services (Hangar) No. 2, 3 and 4 before July 12, 2025, in order to soon start construction.
Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation is assigned to focus on completing on schedule the items of Component Project 2, especially the specialized air traffic management equipment packages; at the same time, research and propose a temporary power supply plan to serve the testing operation of the equipment system.
The Ministry of Construction recommends that competent authorities direct the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to regularly review and update progress weekly; promptly handle difficulties and problems; and at the same time direct contractors to mobilize additional human resources and equipment, and increase construction teams.
The investor needs to prioritize the completion of the main line in August 2025, so that it can install equipment and technical infrastructure systems such as water supply and drainage, electricity, signals, etc. to serve the trial operation of the passenger terminal and items of Component Projects 1, 2, and 4.
ACV cooperated with Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee to speed up procedures for providing stone materials for the project; increase capacity and exploitation time of material mines and proactively seek additional stone sources to ensure sufficient materials and not interrupt construction.
