Sancho opens up the opportunity to leave MU

Jadon Sancho has accepted a significant pay cut to return to Dortmund this summer.

According to Bild , Sancho has had talks with Dortmund leaders Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl, expressing a strong desire to return to the Bundesliga. He also announced that he is willing to accept a salary of around 8 million euros per year, a reduction of about 50% compared to his current salary at Old Trafford.

Currently, Sancho receives about 16 million euros/season at MU. This high salary is considered one of the biggest barriers preventing this midfielder from joining another club. Reducing the salary will help Dortmund meet financial requirements without affecting the current squad structure.

Sancho's time at United has not been smooth. Despite high expectations, the midfielder has only made 83 appearances and scored 12 goals in three seasons.

Despite Sancho's underwhelming years in England, Dortmund still believe in the midfielder's ability. The Bundesliga club successfully revived Sancho's form in the 2023/24 season, when Dortmund reached the Champions League final.

In the summer of 2025, Dortmund spent much less than they earned from player sales. The new team invested around €27 million on three signings, while earning nearly €70 million, mainly from letting young talent Jamie Gittens go to Chelsea.

Dortmund have just four weeks to decide on signing Sancho for the 2025/26 season.
